Spent some time out west during Thanksgiving weekend and got to hunt a nice ranch. I rattled this buck up Friday morning and thought I might have to shoot out of self defense.

I was with a guy that was an expert. We rattled in a few and then had a young 8 point jump over us. Talk about making the hair on the back of your neck stand up. Awesome video!

Great video. Good thing you didn't have buck decoy next to you. I was rattling in southern Tom Green county years ago and had a young 8 come so close to the cedars I was sitting in I could hear him breathing. If I would have had a stick handy I could have poked him with it. That was a rush!

That is awesome footage.
Quick question. I grew up hunting in south Texas and Mexico. That is where I learned to rattle and it was a very useful and fun tool. When we started hunting the hill country we used it with mixed results but usually pulled in a buck or two. Most of the guys we hunted with in the hill country didn't even have a set of rattling horns and looked at us like we where crazy until we pulled a buck in on a string like this and then they where hooked. I guess my question is how many of you actually go out rattlin'?
