Went solo for a change. 20 birds came 3 minutes before legal. But still managed to scratch a few. Bigfoot on top left photo looked good as well as the dacotas. Next time, cylinder choke for sure, as most birds came in within 10 yards.

Way to go. Sit it out until 10 or so and see if you can pick up any singles and doubles that come through to finish your limit

I was going to, but i think i will save them for next time. Plus i scouted it yesterday and only saw 25 birds, and so far thats exactly what i saw this morning.

NIce! Set up strategies are perpetually an area of improvement for me. Sometimes it seems like they're too close, sometimes too far, sometimes they land to my right which makes the layout blind accuracy suffer.
Wasn't born in Texas, but I got there as fast as I could.

Solo is fun sometimes, you can pick the birds, you know when you miss, etc.

I had a similar hunt Sunday morning. After we hunted Saturday, I scouted a spot off the beaten path that had about 40-50 mallards. So we went out Sunday and it ended up being slow. But what came in decoyed perfectly within 10 yards. Ended up with a couple, let a mallard hen go on about her way. Took my dad, he was asleep each time the birds came in. So it is like hunting solo! LOL If it had just been a day earlier! There was very little in the skies at all Sunday where we hunted.

Forgot to mention, found a Dakota decoy a couple weeks ago. Added it to my bunch of decoys Sunday morning. Dang those things look good out there. I may have to pick some more up.

They look awesome, but you need a slotted bag for them as the drake velour heads wear off after awhile. But on the water they are the most realistic decoy out there.
