Anyone have any hands on experience wth the Buckmaster?

I've had a BM 3x9x40 Duplex for several years and cannot really see much difference in the same scope from Burris in a FF II, and IMO worth the small $'s involved for shooting at deer/hog sized critters no farther than 3-400 yards. My ancient Greely, CO USA built FF II is still the best scope of that era of technology I've used.

Was wondering if it's worth the fight to get into Cabella's for their Black Friday Sale,as I need an inexpensive power range upgrade and the BF $'s seem like a good buy ...IF the Glass is decent.

Sales like this smell like a model change is coming, like the Zeiss Conquest deal Cabella's ran couple years ago..but the Z20 duplex crosshair is HUGE and obtrusive IMO and I might not have bought one on that alone. Mebbe Santa will let me win a Lottery sonetime soon so's I can buy what all the Kool Kid's are running.

I have a couple of FF II's and like them a lot. As for shopping, I'd be inclined to try to do my buying by computer and avoid the shopping mob.

...my wife just giggled at the thought of me in that kind of crowd, and suggested the same idea...so we'll see at 12:01am on BF if it can be done on line for the items I want. I'd much rather sleep in at home for sure.

I have been using Burris for years, had to send one back (it would not change adjustment) it came back the same way as it was, very disappointed...

I just bought two young men scopes and big game rifles,as they are just getting into hunting. I found 2 used Remington 700s (the little black truck of bolt guns) they can up grade with stocks, or do a custom at a later date if they want. When I went to top them off, I looked a the Nikon buckmaster 4x12--good clear glass for the dollar,good click adjustments, and nice power range (4x12) all for less than $ 200 each. I noticed that Cabelas had them for $149 if you braved the crowd today...solid buy for what you pay.

I have several Nikons , love`um have one burris its ok nothing near the Nikons for brightness in low light conditions.

Hey 505, pull up the Cabella's Home page and drill down until you can reach the Closeout Page - Optics section ...and you'll find the Nikon Buckmaster's BF Sales prices on the 3x9x40 & 4x12x40's without having to wade thru the crowds or travel futher than your computer...at least I could on T-Day morning BEFORE the BF Sale started. Only the Leo Rangefinder I wanted was still shown at the higher Sale price...and I got an Email Blast this morning to buy one On Line at the $250 BF Sale price.

I also found a Closeout page's list of optics on the Natchez website that's worth looking at at.... pages & pages of Out of Stocks interspered with the occasional nugget of a helluva price on something. Found some Burris Signature w/posi lock 4x16x42 or 44?'s on the floating Ad Bar on the side that comes and go's too at Ummmm $329 I think it was that really caught my attention.

Too bad the guy I sold some guns to hasn't paid me all of it yet & I done spent a chunk of it at Bud's for the new T3 260 'cause Ole Whats Her Name has me a Cash In Hand Basis for buying more goodies these days or I'd have some scopes comin on the Big Brown Truck too. Have Fun
