Is it legal to drive into your spot on public lands? I wouldn't think it would be but saw lots of atv/utv tracks on the walk in this morning

Depends, some lakes enforce the law and some do not if it is against the law.

Every public land unit has it's own unique set of rules, but most likely off road travel will not be legal. Lots of people break the rules. Not just hunters, but also joy riders and adjacent landowners. Several places I hunt have ATV tracks leading from private land boundary gates. As well Game Wardens, Rangers, Biologists, and Wildlife Techs use ATV/UTVs to travel on the public land units they manage.

From the CoE Ft Worth Hunting Guide

What vehicle restrictions are in effect on Corps of Engineer areas?
The operation of all vehicles, including, but not limited to, motorcycles, all terrain
vehicles (ATV's), bicycles, automobiles, trucks, and any other vehicles (see CFR Title
36, Section 327.2 (a) for vehicle definition) off authorized roadways is prohibited.
Exception: ATV permits are available at Wright Patman Lake.
Vehicles must be parked on Corps designated areas or along roadsides on Corps
property without blocking the passage of other vehicles or gate openings. Parking on
other public roadways is at your own risk and contacting local law enforcement is
recommended. Access to the interior of designated hunting areas is authorized by foot
or boat only.

Wasn't born in Texas, but I got there as fast as I could.

Handicapped is a TPWD reg, not sure if it's applicable on COE/federal land.

Yeah its not recommended. To directly answer your question no its not legal. I once got a speeding ticket near a lake in a neighborhood. Went to court to go pay the fine and basically everyone that was in court was there for atv violations.

I know of one by the coast that you can drive in and drop your stuff but you have to drive back and park at the designated location.. only trucks though no atv/utv
