Wondering if the state will postpone the draw hunts due to start this coming Saturday due to the severe WX in N. East Texas? I have a draw hunt at Pat Mayse WMA that s due to start Saturday at 11am. 100% chance of severe storms with large hail, high winds, torrential rain & possible tornadoes. I can't imagin they will go ahead with the hunt?

Where did you find that weather report? I know there is a chance for rain but didn't know the rest would be possible. Rain in a deer blind is one thing, hail lightning and tornadoes is a different story

And what part of E Texas? I'll be in Marshall

News is reporting a chance of severe weather for all of North Texas, starting West moving East. Last I heard, tornadoes where just a "possibility", but they would update closer to the WX event.

Once i learned that i didn't "NEED" to kill something, and that if i did kill something all the fun stopped and work began, i was a much better hunter.

It is the Shorthand version of "weather" used in morse code still used in maritime, by pilots and most weather related folks as short hand. Most CB radios that have a switch, or button for weather, will also use the "WX" shorthand to identify the station.

I think they would only cancel if the area was completely flooded.

I know the hunt went on last year at White Oak despite high water and rain.

It ain't easy being me.

They won't cancel, too short a notice and they don't give refunds, so just be careful and don't cross any low crossings that might flood.

The origin is algebraic in nature. W stands for weather, the X for unknown variable. That's why meteorologist are always can sub anything for X (rain, hail, cold, etc) and us not know whether they're right or wrong.

I did a draw hunt for alligator earlier this year and it rained the entire time I was there and it really effected the animals movement. I had to regroup and go after one with my bow instead of waiting to catch one. The biologist had no intention of doing it at a later date. I would just say be ready to hunt hard and have a plan b c and d

Hail, high winds, tornados no big deal. But chain lightening! Time to get in the shelter!

Watching the projected radar on the news. look like it will be scattered throughout the day, the between periods could be great hunting, if your blind is still standing that is.
