I hunted there years ago when I was about 10-11 years old...had a blast...it is true you may not see a lot of deer, but the ones I saw where nice and the ones that other hunters shot were really nice...the best thing out of the deal is that the last day we were there the biologist there..(Donnie Harmel) took myself and my dad in his truck and we drove around trying to get me a buck..(my first buck)..he came up on a NICE axis buck but as soon as my dad stepped out of the truck so I could a shot he took off....we drove around for a while and with 2 hours left, Donnie took us into one of the high fenced areas within the Kerr WMA and we walked for about an hour and he got me on a nice little 6 point which became my first buck!! Donnie actually wrote me a letter a few months later saying he had a great time...he passed away a year or two later..ill never forget that!!! ..I would love to hunt there again too.....was just thinking of past hunts and thought id share

Yes he really made a great impression on hunting, and the people who are involved in it.. With my dads help and guidance and the little gesture from Donnie I'm pretty sure that's why I love this way of life.. Hunting

Thanks for sharing your story!!! My son and I went on a youth WT managment hunt at Mason Mountain WMA over 10 years ago. I feel the same way about the staff at MM. All were very helpful and tried their best to ensure that every kid had a good hunt. Baker

I have never hunted the Kerr but have gone there on Wildlife field trips. Have always been very good experiences.

I do some work at the kerr and and enjoy all of the guys out there. Donnie Harmel was a great man and was also the area supervisor. The new supervisors name is Donnie also and he is a great guy as well. They do some really outstanding research out there that benefits us as hunters.
