Not sure if someone took a shot and was high or if something else happened. I'm thinking bad shot. What do you guys think...

Looks like a bad shot. I don't see any other wounds that would suggest a fight.

It appears to be a wound from someone missing high. He is alive and eating corn so he will be fine.

Wow!! My dad killed a very nice 8 back in the late 80s that was shot like that. A man on the lease we were on had shot it about two weeks before. It was green when we cleaned it, but he was still running does.

Here is another one that is wounded. This is the same area I saw a mountain lion 2 weeks ago.

Bad shot would be my guess, but if you have mountain lions, that is a good possibility too. The second picture doesn't look as much like a missed shot.

I have seen a doe with a spot like that on her shoulder during the rut. Not sure how or why she got it but it was not from a bad shot. That is one of those mysteries that will never be solved I am afraid.

I was going to say bad shot on the first one but when you posted the second one it became either a bad shot or perhaps a mountain lion...but I'd of thought the mountain lion would have taken then all the way down?

Second one looks like it got clipped by a car. I had one with that same injury and I have no mountain lions around our place.

Looks like a gunshot wound. Would be nice to see the other side and see if there is a entry wound.

Looks like a high shoulder shot and the bullet came apart. Seen similar wounds from ballistic tips. Don't think the other pic is from a mountain lion. With a rake across the hind quarter like that it would have prolly been lunch shortly after is my guess

It looks like somebody took a shot with bird shot or something that lacked the kill power.
