Cut just above first rib from bottom and bend back over to make a smooth rim.
Using a hammer to bend it over and then hammer against hammer on each side works great.
Weld on some legs to get it off the ground. Then horseshoes to carry and dump ashes.
Cut slits on the sides to provide better ventilation.

Need to hit it with some black, high temp, paint. Just did not have any last night when I finished it up.
Stopped by WallyWorld on the way to the lease but they only had silver. bang
Must have had a run on black high temp paint. Not even in the auto section. confused2

Now it looks like something the Little Drummer Boy would use. loser8

At least it is painted and won't rust until I come back out with some black paint.

I usually find it in the BBQ or fireplace area, once in a while in the paint dept.

Did you put you one hole in the bottom for water to get out?

It's a good looking idea, inexpensive and easy to replace when it gets burned out.

Thought about drilling a hole or two but was concerned about it accelerating rust and burn out of the bottom as it is the hottest part.
Will see how it goes. I plan to just turn it over after emptying the ashes out.
