Alarm is set for 0410, then off to work. That blows. You work at a chemical plant though dont ya? Yup, get off Saturday at 1700 and don't have to be back until Thursday at 1700. My dad worked what I guess you call a rotating shift at Amoco oil in Texas City til he passed. He loved when his long weekends came around, think he was off 4 or 5 days. Good luck if ya hunt during the week.

I have the luxury of having my tower set up in the middle of a big cedar tree that I can drive my 4-wheeler right up underneath. The deer don't spook from the 4-wheeler because they are so used to it. So as long as I am in there 10 minutes before shooting time, I am good. About a 10 minute ride from the house too.

Yes, moon will be directly overhead in late morning. And with the rut in full swing in East Texas, you have two good reasons to stay late.
A young six-point ran a doe right past me this morning while trimming a path to one of my stands.
It's on guys. The bucks are moving and have women on their mind!

In stand no later than 0600 tomorrow. Don't know why so early. I'll probably get the stand heated up to 80 degrees and fall into a nice sleep about the time they start showing up.

I'll walk out my back door about 6.30, let the goats out, then walk about 10 minutes to my stand. It would be a shorter walk but I have to go around a deep creekbed, the stand is on the other side.

Almost the same here, 120 yard walk to the blind through a deep, dry creek bed to the other side. Takes me about 5 minutes. I'd hunt off the back porch, but the wife wouldn't care for me chute'n deer in the yard..

We will hit the front gate at 6AM, on to the stands for most, the grand kids and I will be watching the wheat field.
