That should push a few birds down if its that cold up the by Red River huh??
Maybe I am just a perpetual optimist. My first scouting trip will be to hunt.
Guess I will find out...

I'll shoot a mallard but I won't shoot a spoonie, unless its real slow...

Truthfully it's probably just enough to push out what birds we have. It's still unseasonably warm up north.

My thought too. Only thing this front will do is push out the blue wings that we do have.

A north wind will bring in new birds, and will also push birds out.

There weren't many birds to push out so I'll take the cold front. Btw a low of 35 generally doesn't push birds out.

Lots of cranes last night, and geese flying this morning. Whatever the weather does, it's made some birds come down this way.

This time of year, the north wind will trigger a migration, as they take advantage of the wind. When it is so cold as to freezer over all the water and food, this will trigger birds to migrate south.

It doesn't take much for teal to migrate.

I will take a cold front, hopefully it will start some ducks moving south...

I've never hunted before. Would the oracle haymaker like to cast some knowledge towards my youthful duck mind?!

Sure thing. Blue wings will be gone as usual on Nov 1 no matter what the temp is. Gadwall and green wings will be showing up as usual on Nov 1 no matter what the temp is. Speaking for northeast Texas only of course.

I agree with Guy, these temps and wind will bring us some early migrators but I wouldn't expect a big push. From what I have seen there is no significant weather with these temps and from some of the reports I have seen the birds are just now begining to stack up on the US - Canada border. One things for sure though, you can't kill em if your not out there!
