Leased a place sight unseen about 12 miles west Cherokee. Looks great from the overhead maps. Anyone hunted the area?

There is some good hunting in southwest San Saba county, that could be in the Pontotoc area or closer in near the Wallace Creek area. Both should be good. Sure beats staying home on opening day.

I'm about 22 miles west of Cherokee in the Deer Creek area. Lots of critters.

Should grab a beer sometime. I'm just down the road.

Guess it depends on the neighbors. We've got a few hundred acres on Wallace Creek Rd, closer to San Saba. One neighbor day leases...if it's brown it's down. No amount of management has produced anything worthwhile. Just can't get any age in the herd. I gave up on it several years ago. If it was up to me we'd sell and go elsewhere.

Hunted just south of your outside of Valley Spring for over 20 years. With management, we got some really nice bucks off the place. You should be good to go!
