So I'm sitting in my ground blind right now hunting with my son for his first time. This is a new lease, and I had to kinda overpay considering when I got it. It's only 55 acres. When I talked to the landowner he said he does run cows but not here during season. Well we are walking to the stand and keep seeing cow [censored]. Then we see 3 or 4 cows. Scared the crap outta my son, luckily I got him shut up quick. I haven't checked all the feeders yet to see if there's damage. But should I be pissed that he's running em here now?

I suggest erring on the side of giving the owner a heads up.

I have cattle that run on the adjacent property that frequently get on my ranch. Since I know he gets paid by the pound I know one loss kind of hits his bottom line.

Same with your situation. Since he knows you will be shooting I doubt he would intentionally put his cattle in harms way. Cattle prices being stupid high right now.

A rancher showed me the receipt from his sale of two calves last week. I couldn't believe what he got for them.

I would ask the landowner since he might not know the cows broke in on the place if they are not his. If you have not had rain in a while, he might be forced to graze the place in need of grass for cattle. Deer will get used to cattle once they are in place for a while. Well the update is they are not his cows. I texted him and just let him know they were out there, had emptied 600# of corn and screwed up one feeder. Luckily I have cams and saw the brands on the cows. He said he's gonna call around. I don't mind the cows if I'm prepared and have made a pen. But I hadn't since he wasn't going to run em. So I'm out some leg pieces on a feeder, spin plate on another, and a bunch of corn. And apparently I'm putting up pens next weekend.

Little fella was shook...that much a acre isn't bad man, build u a good feed pen and them moo juice makers won't bother the deer to much man...have a good time

Yeah pens will be build now and ivd been assured by the landowner the cows will be gone early next week. I was able to see the brands on em from cam pics. Helped out

If it helps any I am 400 lbs and strong as a tank but I am still afraid of cows lol. I have always hunted places with cattle and my dad made fun of me and still does about it but hey I am afraid of the dark too.
