A good lantern will work best for blood. I have a blood light and have used it for trailing, but never noticed an appreciable difference in the light's ability to make blood easier to see.

A good bright led is your friend. I couldn't see a difference with any blood tracking lights.

I have found that a spotlight works best.

A good flashlight and a spray bottle of hydrogen peroxide. If you run out of blood you can see, spray the area with a fine mist of the peroxide and look for foaming. There's your new trail.

I like the hydrogen peroxide idea, but you want to be careful with it. Even at the low 3% medical version most of us have, it can be a strong eye irritant and even worse if you have contacts. You really should avoid breathing it as well.

At higher industrial strengths, it can be dangerous.

I just use the stuff from the grocery store. I really don't think it's gonna' kill me. Heck, when I had an abscessed tooth my dentist had me using it as mouthwash. It's also good for cleaning your ears.
