We have several deer that have been named for identification, and most have a reason. Hardly ever is a deer call "the ten pointer." Here are a few:
Ferdinand- he is as big as a bull
Beast- when he was 2 yrs old, my daughter said he was a beast.
Cally- the piebald doe, a calico

And of course jshouse has "Big", and probably always will. roflmao

Any good ones out there? Deer or other wild critters.

No Show Jones was a buck I was trying to get my Dad a shot at. I would see the buck when my Dad was not hunting with me and we my Dad was hunting, No Show was a no show. Finally killed him right after Christmas and that was his last hunt and biggest buck.
Limpin' Louie was a big typical 11 point in Kendall County that got his name from being wounded 2 yrs before and limped when he walked.
Lefty got his name cause he only had a left eye left after a fight.
Lefty Jr cause he looked like Left only he was not blind.
Lefty III caused he looked Lefty only not blind but tons of mass.
Full House cause he was a typical 7x7.
Goliath cause he was huge and scored 200".
Cowtown(from the Bob Wills song) because he had a huge set of cojones.

Popeye - he was missing one eye
Bullwinkle - he was palamated with 12 points
Forkie - forked G2's
Pretty 10 - he was prettier than the other 10's
Big ugly - 8 point with long heavy main beams that went up and out with squirrelly tines
Jekyll and Hyde - lopsided buck. Big on one side, small on the other
Super 8 - Big 8
High tower - main beams went straight up

All I can think of right now grin

"Almost" - Buck on my old lease my brother and me were hunting in the same ground blind. Deer was about 20 yards from us, I raised my gun and asked if he was a shooter (AR county). Needless to say, the deer got away.

"Touchdown" is a large buck with TALL spikes that look like a referee signalling a touchdown.

a few...

Big Boy--at the time he was the biggest deer on any property I had ever hunted
Wide 9--pretty simple
Bullet--nice 8pt that had been shot and had a bullet hole/scar high on his shoulder
Little 10--a nice 10 that I had pics of as a 2yo
Fat Boy--huge bodied 8pt
Tall 8--very cool looking with upswept tines
crabby--ugly crab claw 7pt
Massey--big 10 with huge mass
The 15--heavy short tined 15pt
Bruiser--the fighter of the group, face and neck are all scarred up
The Big 8--huge old warhorse of an 8pt

I think we only ever named one deer.

we didn't get into the habit of naming them. we call them "that ten pointer" or "the young twelve"

For it is not the quarry that we truly seek, but the adventure.

Got one we call Halo because his main beams just barely overlap at the tips and are so close that we first thought they'd grown together in a big circle. He looks like a walking basketball goal.

We've had some originals over the years:

The Rover: Showed up all over the ranch
Rockstar: Had 13 pts as a 2.5yo
Teaser: Stud 3.5yo 8-pt
Guns Up: Beams come forward, look like the Tech hand sign
Chocolate: Real dark horns
Goal Posts: Antlers look like a field goal post
Resident 8: A regular who was always around
Stripes: More tarsal staining than I've ever seen in another deer, looked like black stripes running down his legs
Bright Eye: Bright white cirles around his eyes
Bruce: Because he was "The Boss"
Dogpound: Face like a junkyard dog

Course, we've also had some that are more obvious like Big 10, Wide 9, etc. This year we have another "Janky" as well.

Not on the shooter list, but this is Flame (the young buck at the bottom).

We had seen this one around and nicknamed him "Boeing" because of his airplane look.

This one is "Poseidon" because of the 3 points that kind of look like trident. I'm sad we couldn't find this guy once season rolled around.

The Fallow Buck, because his bladed, heavy G2s reminded some of a fallow deer. He'd been seen off and on for 2 years but was wild as a peach orchard boar, and always managed to avoid hunters and bullets. I got lucky; we topped a ridge where he was with a bachelor bunch of bucks. He took off like a scalded cat, but my snap shot broke his back at a little over 200 yards. The finishing shot off sticks was easy.
