I recently got a marlin xt 22 bolt action rifle. I cannot get the iron sights to line up so I'm getting a scope. Was going to anyway, but sooner than I thought. What's a good scope for a 22 rifle? I'm not wanting to spend a lot since I'll be shooting up to about 50 yards. I think I read a somewhere a BSA sweet was made for a 22. Any input is appreciated.

I would not get one of the cheap BSA scopes.

I put a Weaver 2-7 Rimfire on my newly acquired Marlin Xt-22. Performed excellent hunting squirrels a few weeks ago.

As a side note, my Iron sights were installed off center from the factory. To get them to shoot at 30 yards, I had to move the front sight post, and the dovetail sight way off to the side. Not real sure the drilled and tapped holes were straight either, but got it all shooting good now. I really like have a tube fed bolt action that will shoot 22 specialty shells

I have a 4x BSA on my model 60. Haven't had any trouble out of it, but the Weaver definitely has better glass.

I bought a Nikon Prostaff 4x fixed rimfire scope a few years ago. Optics is very clear with good coatings and transmissivity. Price was under $100. Stuck it on a .308 bolt action for a while with no issues other than the parallax is set to 50yds which made shooting accurately @100yds difficult.

Sitting on top of my Son's Thompsons BSA edition Hotshot .22 rifle and has not lost zero even after he accidentally banged the scope a few times.

Simmons 22 mag is a good little inexpensive rimfire scope. I have 3-4 of them, no complaints.

I like Nikon's 3-9x40 rimfire scope. it has the BDC reticle. I'm not normally a fan of BDC reticles but Nikon rimfire scopes are close enough to work. I'm pretty sure you'll have to shoot CCI stingers for the ammo to match the BDC reticle. The parallax is set at 50 yards, so it'll be nice and clear at the range you'll be shooting at.

Even though I'm not a huge fan of Nikon scopes, I think Rcinit made a good suggestion. BDC is useful on a 22lr scope and I'm surprised that more scope makers don't offer that as an option.
