Check all of the major airline websites like expedia, orbitz, etc as well as the airline sites (Delta, South African etc.) There's really no special site where you might get an amazing deal. The flight can cost around $2,000 but can vary depending on when you fly.

Go to those sites I mentioned, plug in some dates and check the prices.

South Africa is 2,000 miles away from the Ebola areas. Kind of like not going to Texas because of something happening in New York.

We went this past August and I found the best rates to be on Priceline.com. From Dallas to London to Johannesburg was and back for the two of us was $4,000 We could have gone through Germany for the same price, but for us it was important to get to Johanasburg in the morning so we could catch another flight to the small town our outfitter was picking us up from. We also liked the idea of being able to spend the day in London. It was an 11 hour layover there, so we took the Underground train into town and did some sight seeing. Best part was eating at pub and enjoying a couple of beers.

It's a miserable amount of time to be in the air and if you can afford it, there are direct flights from Atlanta to Johannesburg, but the cost was more then we could afford and stay under budget. I'd rather spend more money on animals and less on airline tickets. Ten hours to London, then 12 hours to Johannesburg on British Airlines.

Supposedly Travel Express is your best bet for African travel. I know they are hunters and have hunted africa many times.

This is one of those deals you really don't want to try and book yourself via Orbitz. Get a reputable travel agency involved. And be very careful on the flight times. Some routes can be as short as 24 hours. Others are well over 40 hrs. You don't want to "save" a couple hundred dollars in exchange for 20 extra hours of travel time (unless you enjoy sleeping on the floor of a European or third world airport). I also highly recommend flying into Cape Town rather than JoBerg. And if you fly internally within South Africa to some of the other key cities (Port Elizabeth or George for example) check out Kulula Airlines. They run on the same model as Southwest airlines. Cheap, clean, on-time, no frills.

Enjoy your Safari. I can also help line you up with a deal if your're still shopping.

To be sure of hitting the target, shoot first and call whatever you hit the target.

Sure you can book travel for yourself no problem, if you have experience booking a lot of international travel. dkershen brings up a really good point though. If you don't have any experience in such or have doubts, then seek a professional, otherwise you could have some uncomfortable or bad routing.

We use the major serch engines when we book. Your PH may have a recommendation for a booking agent or an airline. We recently got back from RSA using airfare we booked on orbitz. No issues no problems. If you are carrying a firearm you need to check with the airlines to see what restrictions and fees thy have associated with traveling with a firearm. We have not used a booking agent, but would consider it. I am looking at heading to Namibia next spring and the fares are lower than thy were when I went to RSA a month ago even with the extra short flight to Namibia. Have a great time!!!
