I'm interested to see how you guys do. Just got back from an elk hunt and they weren't talking at all.
Last week of archery season they were hollerin pretty good.

I would imagine the rut is pretty much over, but we'll see. It's kind of warm up there right now.

It was getting down to around 20 overnight, but still at 60ish during the day. Snowed the week prior, I think that may have moved them down, we were up around 11k feet near Conifer. I can't remember where yall were planning on going.

I heard about that snow. If that pushed them down some, you reckon they stayed down?

I think they were slowly working their way back up. We got some snow on Sunday morning, about an inch. We saw a bunch of cows heading up on Monday morning, no bulls in that group which was a little weird. Also hiking around, stumbled upon a few fresh beds and quite a few fresh tracks up around 11k in the dark timber. Did not see any elk above treeline.

Wall tent with the wood burning stove was definitely nice.

Makes sense because it was dead quite second to last week

Looks like we've got us a campsite, now.

I just got to Denver. Going on to granby in the morning. Talked to the land owner. He said all was quite. Ended last week. He had 5 guys for the first rifle and 4 took Bulls. Hope it stays that good

Went out scouting this evening and happened to be looking at a group of bucks in a bowl at about 1000yds and had a 320ish 6x7 bugling and pushing a cow around between me and the deer. Have a bull voucher being overnighted, I'd shoot him in this unit.

Almost out of Texas.

The four of us are here and settled in. Got a nice little campsite and a plan for the morning hunt. Ringworm is on his way.

Sure you saw a 320.... I'm calling BS

Put in about 11.5 miles today in some rough country. Had an encounter with one decent bull. Didn't work out.

The other guys had about the same luck.

Sneaky, I sure wish I was with ya'll but will have to wait another year. Hope every one takes an animal. If you get one give me a shout when you come through Abilene, would like to see one up close and personal, luck to everyone.

Dead serious. He had one of the cow's rear ends all ruffled up. Haven't been back down to that area since though and haven't seen anything else close to 300 since. To legally kill that bull on public and get in to where they came from you have to be part mtn goat, Waiting to find one in the low country and it bed in a decent spot and I'll go buy an elk license. Found a full curl ram Fri morning as well and a 185ish deer that may or may not still be there. Lost interest in him when a swarm of Camps showed up Fri afternoon within 100yds of where he was feeding...(dang elk hunters )

Still hearing bulls though between 9000-10000' mostly early AM and between 1-3p.

Ya, sitten down here at uncle Sam's forest, Doing a Monster Quest rummor has it been several bigfoot sighted in surrounding area. so i sneak out thar bout 8:45pm gave out few hollars, banged on some trees, twasnt near 20 minnutes vast bye & we got a call. don't have all that thar high-tech so thinks meself threw de woods. day light came, an methinks me lost. but i'm closen in on em. try again tonight
