Wanted to shared my latest project. Built a new duck blind this last month to set out on a private place we hunt. Built it on skids for moving around if needed. It is 10' x 6'. You can hunt 4 people comfortably, normally there will only be 2, or 3. Moved it up yesterday and got it in place. Just need to brush up and blend it in best we can. This lake is completely open, no trees, nothing on the bank. We will still hunt public as well, with the boat and a few walk in places. We also have cattle panel blinds to hunt out of. We had a big permanent blind out in an area lake for 15 years back in the early 80's and 90's. Had to have the boat to get to it and parked it under the blind. My fondest Duck hunting memories are hunting out of that blind. We had good days and bad days and better places to hunt, but we talk more about the blind as we called it more than any other places. Cherished memories with family and friends. Planning on making new memories just as good out of this blind.

Good luck. Getting it brushed and keeping it brushed is the hardest part.

That is one of the negatives of the place, there is no brush. A few old dead trees we can use to help break the out line. We are going to have to cut somewhere else and haul it there. We learned along time ago to tie the brush on. I put eye bolts on the top, door face and all the way around for using string to tie it on. We use heavy brown twisted tared trot line string. It works well.

Thanks for the nice comments. I have alot of fun engineering and building stuff we use hunting and fishing. To me it adds to the whole experience. I like doing it. It is not work to me. I also like to add little finishing touches like the art work to add fun to the project.

U boys love your taco stands that's for sure. Good luck blending that in to those surroundings. Gonna be hard to make it not stick out like a turd in a punch bowl

Looks awesome! Curious about the dog box. How do you take the birds from the dog? Looked like the box was separated from the blind with cattle panel. Great looking blind.

You can reach in and get the duck from her. The cattle panel is large enough to get the bird through, however most of the time I will get out of the blind when she goes to retrieve. I do not want her in the blind with us. I prefer to keep her out of where we are. I left the side open so she was not isolated from us and we could see her and have interaction. She is not the most trained dog. I wanted to hold her in and not have to worry about her until I am ready for her to retrieve.

We call it the chicken coop! Yes we will do the best we can. It is about as bad as you can get for blending , but we kill plenty of ducks. Our old open water blind was the same way. Of course if I had a choice it would be in natural brush. We have used lay out blinds in this situation but we are getting to old and fat for lay out blinds. We want comfort and convenience. We are pretty much at the end of long hikes wearing waders full gear, carrying gear, and dekes, laying on the ground. The same with my two boats. They are more fishing boats than hunting boats anymore, but I still have the option for hunting with them.

My intent with this blind was that I would build it to last me the rest of my waterfowl hunting life. One I can drive right too, unload and go park a few hundred yards away. Some of my older life hunting buddies are already past the point of being able to do much. They can still hunt with me in this location and blind. For me, I hope this is still another 20-30 years ahead if I am lucky. After 40 years of hunting ducks and geese I still have the fever and get excited when the cold nasty fronts are coming in. If and when I have to give it up, I can always sell it for a chicken coop! lol!

If I csn hide this blind, you will be fine. O did the same thing with the dog locker. That is the best feature on the blind.

Very nice blind but looks a little odd just sitting out in a flat cow pasture.

How loud is it shooting out of a tin can like that? What about a pit blind?

No louder than an other confined close quarter shooting. I do not own the property, no pits allowed.

I thought about building this one on wheels, but went with the skids. I may add wheels one day, or just leave it on the trailer and brush the whole thing. Always have that option. Plenty of room in your blind for the whole crew. Looks good!
