Im in a hurry to purchase one. Last minute job came up for me to travel to Nevada for a month or so. This time of year is when I start hand tossing corn for the deer. I wont be able to do it now, so passing job onto my 72yo dad. Very capable, but I want it to as easy as possible for him. Thats where the tailgate feeder comes into play. Its gonna be on a UTV Rhino receiver. Im gonna have it shipped to him, so easy set up is a must. The price range is up to $300. I want it not to be a bother for him, but something fun to do. I want to order it for him today if I can find one up to my liking. Any ideas?
Academy ForEverlast. 50lbs tailgate feeder? Just saw it on the net, so dont know much about it.
Thanks to all.

It will work. Go to a Bucee's if you have one close as they will be the cheapest around if they have some in stock. If you don't need to buy when one give your Dad a 5 gallon bucket filled with corn and a coffee can that he can dribble corn out of as he drives. That was my "roadfeeder" for 20 yrs till I was on a ranch that had an actual roadfeeder.

Where's your dad live? If he's close I'll have you ship it to me, and I'll put it together and install it for him. I haven't been on here long, but I'm sure there's a couple guys on here that I've dealt with that'll vouch for me.

stxranchman thats the way I do it, and thats the way he's doing it. But, he just dumps it out in one long line and all the deer line up in one long line. Its quite cool to see the deer all lined up, but you know the rest. I actually scatter it around.

I do not drive a straightline if I use the roadfeeder or a can to put out corn. I weave back and forth so I don't have to worry about a pass thru shot if I have a lot of deer. You might also check out online for a All Season Dealer since they have a nice roadfeeder also. I know they can ship them to your door also if that is an option for you. cheers

Bucees has best price by a mile - bought a 100lb last year for $100 less than I could find it anywhere else - by the way, any of yall buying 6 and 12 volt batteries for your feeders, they are also way less expensive at Bucees

You can't fix stupid

Do the foreverlast have an attachment for the receiver? Last time I saw them they did not.

I rigged one up on a Rhino. A receiver hookup would have been too low for me when crossing low areas and dips. I made two brackets to hang it from the tail gate and secured it with a strap, tied into the bed. Works really good but takes some handy work to make and attach the brackets.

X2 on the batteries from Bucees.

Can you adjust the Foreverlast to disperse small seeds or Fertilizers.

we have a 50lbs road feeder that I picked up out of cabelas for about $140. it works well. I wish I had a smaller ranch only vehicle that I could just leave it attached to. but for now I just run it on my regular truck.

we also have just poured corn over the tail-gate while someone drives. it works well for simply feeding roads. but its not functional if you're on the way to a blind by yourself.

Just put the sack in your lap and drive with the door open, pour as you go.

I just walk crooked anyway when I chum so it works out..

Seen the guy in Conroe that uses the storage under your ranger seat and you fill up both compartments under your front seats ...I'm debating it..

That's a lotta corn Big Swol' roflmao and I think the reason STX weaves back & forth while feeding is because, well, that's what happens when you get up there in age and don't see like you used to. grin

Deer love the sound and you spread out your feed range.. deer feel more comfortable coming out were they want to eat rather than one spot every single time imo.

and they don't have to worry about being bunched up with other deer

hammer whip If I were feeding that road in the pic, I would have driven from side of the road back and forth. I would have made longer sweeping bends. That way the deer are not standing all lined up. up

awesome, I might try this... Is it even worth a try if you are only able to go to the lease every other weekend

Yes, but they might run to the next county the first few times you feed the roads since it is not something they are used to. I would try to feed every time you go the place year round at first. They will remember it after about a year or so and you won't need to feed year round. It can draw deer from a long distance once you train them to it. Once you train them to the sound, you can move the location around to have the wind in your favor also. Feeding certain spots will allow skittish bucks a place to sneak into and get corn. You can corn as far as you can shoot or farther if you like.

Absolutly, yea who chums the most wins
We have a feed truck that comes thru and feeds the Goats (pasture maggots) and they use a siren, you would be suprised how patterned Doe will become..I am a huge fan of the Chum...I am really interested in this under the seat chummer system for a ranger but I dont like driving over my chum once it hits the ground...

Let me know if you see a scared lion, scarecrow or a metal man walking down that road.
