Hey everyone,

I know very little about optics, so hopefully here someone can shed some light on a subject. I bought a used gun with a scope. I'm pretty sure I'm never going to do that again. The rifle is in excellent condition and shoots very nice groups. The scope has one small scratch. Here's the problem. The scope will not adjust its zero. You can turn the knobs all you want and no movement of the point of impact on target. I took the screws out and literally turned the mechanisms with pliers and got some movement, but that wasn't consistent. It's like the scope is stuck or nearly stuck. Any ideas? It's a Nikon. I do not know which model, but its magnification and diameter is 5.5-16.5 X 44. Thank you.

CR

Sounds like a Monarch, from what google says. Limited Lifetime warranty. I would call them at the number below-I bet they'll fix it for free. That is a quality scope.

1-800-NIKON US (1-800-645-6687) 9AM-8PM EST, Monday-Friday.

Not an uncommon problem with Nikon scopes. Send it in, get it repaired, as long as it's Ok I'd sell it. No telling when it'll happen again.

Scope has been sent back to Nikon for repair. Hopefully it's relatively quickly (within a month), although I know that's wishful thinking.

Nikon has received the scope and is repairing it for free.

Never had experience with Nikon, but everything I have sent in for repair was done very quickly.

The secret to a long life is to try not to shorten it.
