My son was drawn for the youth hunt at Chaparral WMA for antlerless/spike. Has anyone been drawn for this hunt in the past and if so could you shed some light on what to expect? I read that there are some blinds in place, however I intend to bring a popup as well in case we need to relocate or if the provided stands are POS.

There will be several box "youth" blinds on your hunting area like this:

There are also tripods and some ground blinds available.

The campground used to be nice but with all the oil and gas traffic it's more like camping next to I-35.

Definitely a great place to get a permit. Have fun and make some good memories.

Great place to hunt and super people there at the WMA. You will have a fun hunt. Look on several of my previous hunt posts for pics of both the youth and either sex hunts. We were there for the Dec youth deer hunt.

I was drawn for a predator hunt there several years ago. My partner and I had several thousand acres of hunting area to ourselves. We hunted the stands, set up quick blinds along the cuts and hid near a few ponds...the brush was too thick to really get into. We saw several does and javelinas. At that time they had a rattlesnake study going on so you couldn't kill them and we found a few. We didn't kill anything, but time. I did enjoy the wilderness though. We stayed at a motel about 15 minutes away. Good luck!
