Over the years many of my closest friendships have been formed around duck hunting. Last year my wife and I went over and hunted with Dutch hunter and his family. When we were invited back this year, we couldn't wait to get back to the Netherlands.

This year Martijn lined up a traditional European driven hunt for a mix of wild and raised pheasant and chukar, and wild mallards in France. I hunt with a dress code!!

Their dogs are a lot like their women-kinda hairy.

The food and hospitality were amazing.

And the shooting did not suck.

Got to see some amazing classic o/u's

Stay in an amazing French country farm home that survived ww1 and 2 despot being 1/4 mile from ft duconde France.

And have a few bottles a French wine. Holy smokes the French can drink.

Back in holland we got in a hunt or two for ducks and geese.
This gun was a gun that one of the older guys used as a kid market hunting. A bolt action single shot 16 ga. He said no idea how many animals he shot before upgrading to the double 12.

Sunrise over a Dutch polder.

Every flock of mallards had a mut. Easy targets.

The hunting was such a small part of the trip. Getting to hang out as a local is just something that can't be described.

Bike riding in the country side.

Boat tours on the canals

Look forward to returning the hospitality in January with coot whacking, hog sticking, and goose raking.....

Do the ducks just fly up and down those polders? Also I watched some video's of mallard hunts in France. Looks awesome. Was it a driven mallard hunt?

Yessir. That was one of the released birds. I was surprised at how fast they could get going. They hit the ground hard too....

That's a pretty cool Addition even if they are released. Did you bring one home to mount? I am sure you have something cool in mind for your collection.
