I know they love peanut fields if they're around. Don't see why they wouldn't love goobers.

They would rather eat peanuts than corn if given the option.... A local feed store has a peanut based livestock feed. Deer love it.

Peanuts are one thing a deer will walk over acorns to eat. Problem is they are expensive to use.

If you thought coons were bad on corn feeders then wait till they find the peanuts in your feeder. They will be protesting for beer keg in the pen

Be an interesting experiment to add 5 or 10lbs of raw redskin peanuts to a feeder with corn, feeder will throw them for sure, see if the peanuts increase the feeder interest. Guess any shelled peanut might work. I have added Acorn Rage in and around a feeder, they like that stuff, smells like cookies.

I can't count how many deer we have killed out of our peanut fields. I do know we have counted 97 deer and 250 plus turkey in our peanut fields at one time. Hard to get a good count on turkey's. They just don't sit still for the count.

Go to the day old bread store and pick up a few loaves of bread, stop at HEB and buy the cheapest peanut butter you can buy. Make up peanut butter sandwiches, just smear it on thick, then in the morning drop them near the feeder. You will laugh your butt off watching the deer eat them, especially if you are heavy on the PB, it sticks to the roof of their mouths. Don't put them out too early, the ants will mess up your fun, we used to dump ours in a cut off 55 gallon drum feeder..

I have heard that Indian Corn is best thing going They seem to really enjoy it, and it keeps them around the feeder longer. At least, that's been my experience.

They just don't sit still for the count. I remember growing up and visiting my cousins in Comanche county, back in the early sixties. Not many deer back then, but enough to hunt. Turkey and quail were everywhere, back then. Not many fields around Comanche are planted in goobers these days, unfortunately.

Comanche and nearby counties used to be big producers of peanuts and when you drove through Gorman, espedcially, you could smell them getting processed and roasted. Then big daddy Feds decided to subsidize and the rest is history. But the deer that were around back then were able to develop genes that were capable of producing some big-bodied deer and thos genes still are carrying on in much of the county.
