Anyone have one? If so, what do you like or dislike about it? Looking at getting one to replace my old 30-06.

I've heard good things as well, but sometimes you never know if your getting all the details. I've been told they are dead on accurate once sighted in and very tough/well made. Plus for the price could you really go wrong?

I don't think you can go wrong for the price and I'm a Ruger guy anyways. Love the M77. I bought one of the rem 700 ADL that was cheaper at academy and was not happy with it. About every 4th or 5th round would not fire due to the firing pin not striking the primer well enough. Took it to a gunsmith to repair and ended up trading it for a revolver

Can we make a Ruger American sticky?
Just to make sure that it is done thoroughly, I go both ways.

But, but, but don't you want, wouldn't you rather have, the magic trifecta, Tikka, 260, Vortex ?

I was just telling a buddy that I liked the new Ruger American Ranch in a 300blk. Also like the American Predator in a 308 or 6.5. I might have to hit you up.

I finally got to shoot one in .270 the other day and loved the rifle; only complaint I had about it was the Bushnell scope they had on it....

I found one close to me that a local dealer has NIB with the Wolf camo stock on it. Said he would mount my scope and bore sight it for the price he is asking. Think at lunch today I'm going to go buy it.

I have the wolf camo pattern in 308 good gun very accurate. I have a nikon prostaff 3x9-40 bdc reticle mounted on it. only thing i did to change mine up was sounded down the stock just a little bit more under the better for better free float and painted the barrel by picking one of the colors out of the stock and hitting it solid that color. Looks great now wasnt to big of a fan of the matte barrel with the wolf camo.

Great ideal on the barrel! I do have to agree with you that the barrel stands out like a sore thumb. I might have to give that a try. I'm getting mine for very close what you paid for yours, +/- $15. I don't mind the little extra since it's a local guy and as a small business owner myself I try to return the favor to other small businesses. Going to have the Vortex Viper 2.5-10 x 44 scope put on mine. Good looking rig Ricochet!

i found what worked best first try was a fail as the paint just peeled right off. I gave a good degreasing then i hit it with 2 coats of rustoleum self etching primer top shows grey but is actually closer to like an od green. Then i hit it with 2 coats of rustoleum camo khaki folled by the rustoleum cam dark green of one coat and at a much further distence to just spritz it if you will

I'll know in another week or so...getting one in .270 with the Navy digital camo stock for my youngest for his first deer rifle. It should be here next week. Will put either a Nikon Prostaff or Vortex on it for him. You just can't beat the price. I was looking at $450-500 used 788's or the like or a brand new Navy Digital camo Ruger American for $330 shipped...I know they used to be a tad under $300 at Cabelas but of course I didn't buy one while they had them in stock and I've been checking back with them for weeks now - no more Navy digitals (what can I say, he liked that pattern).

I bought a Ruger American 243 about 6 months ago and topped it with a Leupold 4.5 x 14. It is super light and has been a tack driver from day one.

I have the .243 and love the gun. Not sure I'd want one in 30.06 due to the weight of the gun.

As soft as the recoil pad is, I did not notice the recoil of a 30/06 American to be objectionable. I am old and don't like recoil anymore either!
