Just like the subject says, im looking to get a new bow and was wondering what yall recommended. I've had an old bushmaster compound, but I was really looking for an upgrade. I'll mostly be using it for pigs and once a year for deer. Im not afraid to spend a little bit of money for a good quality bow, but at the same time lets not get crazy. Thanks in advance. Also please put the make and model instead of just the brand.

Visit a reputable bow shop and buy a Matthews that's a couple years old either new or a trade in. Mine is 6 years old and still a light sweet shooting bow that I have no desire to upgrade. I've owned a few Matthews and they hold up well and the stand behind their products. Make sure you have them put on a fall away arrow rest. I also recommend a Scott arrow release. I like a single pin adjustable sight. I think they are much easier to use if you've shot firearm sights most of your life.

Mathews best
Bowtech is second
Diamond by bowtech if on a budget still very good
We would have know your price range to give a model number.

Shoot several in your price range. I won't blast you with the brands I use but shooting them all will help
Better educate you on what the best bow for you will be

A lot of factors to consider. I like how Elites and Matthews shoot, but they are too slow for me. Best two bows out right now IMO are the Bear Agenda 6 and the Bowtech RPM 360. The Bear shoots 350fps and the Bowtech around 360fps. Probably the fastest bows without the big jump when you release. The prior model of the PSE EVO is also a very nice bow. The new Dream Season DNA (newer version of the EVO) isn't as smooth to me as the prior version (EVO).

If you are just going to shoot deer at 25 yards and less from a tree stand, you are not going to get any better performance that the mainline Diamonds or PSE's. It is when you want to shoot at 30 to 40 yards is when the bows I mentioned above really shine.

I have shot a mainline bow for years and have gotten to the point where I only shoot at 25 and under for tree stand hunting. I am in the process of building a new Bear Agenda 6 right now. This bow will allow me to shoot out to 35 yards in a tree stand with very little possibility of deer jumping the string.

You can get mainline bows from PSE, Diamond, Cabela's brand, Bass Pro brand, and Dicks brand for about $500 on sale ready to shoot with all attachments and arrows. You usually get about 325 fps IBO.

A pro line bow like the Bowtech 360, Bear Agenda 6 or PSE Full Throttle will end up costing you around $1,800 on average after you outfit it with all accessories and arrows. Most people that buy pro line bows end up spending more like $2,200 to outfit their bow. You get about $350 fps on average.

For the life of me, I don't understand why people spend $2,000 on a pro line bow that only shoots 320fps (some less than 300 fps). I do understand if they are buying for 3D comp shooting, but not hunting.

If you can't take a new main line bow and shoot 2" groups at 25 yards with a little practice, you are not going to get any better with a $2k bow.

Thanks guys, I would say probably around $800 would be my comfort zone. I have seen the 4-500 dollar bows online from PSE, Diamond, Cabelas, and BP. Just didn't really know where to begin. I hate going into a retail store without knowing a little about the products that im looking for just becaue I've been burnt in the past by SALESmen just doing their job.
After what Pittstate said I think I may be leaning twards some of the "mainline bows" and save a little money in the process just didn't want to end up with the "get what you pay for" treatment after I made a bad decision.
Any more recommendations? Im all ears!

I am on my second Hoyt now after hunting with other brands for years. I bought a Carbon Element 30 a few months ago and it is my favorite I've ever shot

I love my pse dream season evo, it is a pro series bow but It is noticeable better than my last two mainline bows.

Isn't it funny how day by day nothing changes but when you look back everything is different.

Nowadays people know the price of everything and the value of nothing.

Go to a good bow shot (not a big box store) and shoot several that you can afford. I'm super happy with my new elite.

Shoot some different brands and see what you like. Just don't fall for the Mathews hype. They really aren't that special.

Be aware that some bow shops will have you shoot several brands not comparing apples to apples. I had one shop trying to move some Hoyt's over the Mathews. They had me try a Hoyt set at 50lbs and a Mathews at 70 lbs and asked me what bow felt better not knowing I new a little about bows. Of course the Hoyt was easier to shoot since was set at lower lbs. Hoyt is a good brand, but they had an overstock of them and wanted to move the merchandise. Make sure when you test the bows they are at the same lbs.

I think most all compound bows will get the job done. You have to just decide if you want a Bentley, Cadillac , Ford, or Honda

For your price range I like the diamond by bowtech if your price includes all add ons that you will need

I like my matthews dxt. American owned, operated, and made. Plus the owner is a Christian. Maybe better bows out there, but I cant see any reason for me to change. I have had no issues. I previously had high country, pse, and bowtech, before finally trying the dxt. I will never buy another pse, had bad customer service experience. I would not take the time to assist me with an issue, so I will not take the time to spend any of my money on their products.
As others have said best to go to a shop and shoot several and find what you like.

One thing that sold me on the elite (other than the bow itself) was the warranty. If it breaks and you're on a big time hunt in the middle of nowhere without a bow shop nearby, they'll overnight mail you a replacement bow so your hunt isn't wasted.

I've seen Elite's customer service in action before. I have no doubt that anything that happens to my bow will be taken care of, no questions asked. They really are top notch.

That's good to know. I haven't needed any service yet.

I haven't, either. The bows are solid. A buddy of mine had an 80# GTO. This was before they even had their lifetime, transferable warranty. Or, at least, before they made a big deal about it. A coworker of his dry fired the bow and it pretty much exploded. He sent it to Elite and asked them to look it over and replace what needed to be replaced. He told them what happened and that he would cover the cost. They said the riser and limbs looked fine, but to be sure, they sent him a whole new bow. They also didn't charge him anything, knowing that it wasn't their fault.

Diamond is a helluva bow for the money.

check out the obsession and xpedition bows too, its all about personal preference but my obsession evolution is BAD. find a shop that has several brands and shoot them all.
