I'm new to the forum. Looking forward to reading through the forum for different tips, stories, and reports.

I'll start with my first post in sharing a short video I put together of my 2014 Dove Season...I know dove season is not over yet and will still probably get a few more hunts in but will start focusing my efforts on bow season soon. The video is called "A Harlie and a 12 Gauge"...Harlie is my bird dog. She is four years old. I'm not a bird dog trainer by any stretch of the imagination. She just really had the instinct for it. Taught her to fetch when she was a pup and then the first wounded bird I put her on, she was hooked. We have fun

Great video (most hunters just tape the kill, and it should only be 10% of the video) and great choice of music.

Any pointers for someone brand new to using a GoPro for hunting?

Honestly, I'm brand new to hunting with a GoPro myself...

From what Ive learned so far, take TONS of footage, play with settings such as frame rate, time lapse, etc.

Get all kinds of angles

Set your clips to go to the beat of the music, etc. when editing

Be innovative with camera mounts: such as make a chest mount with the binocular straps you already have, make a clamp mount with the clamp you never use in your garage, etc. The mount on my dog's back was simply my extra bino straps that I adjusted to fit her.

Like one poster mentioned, the kill is not the only thing you want footage of: it's the preparation, it's the drive there, it's the sitting and waiting, it's the drawing of the bow, cleaning the game, preparing in the kitchen, eating, etc.

VERY nice. I honestly almost didn't watch it because it was a go pro vid. Great editing, really enjoyable.

Thanks Dave- there are definitely some goofy Gopro videos out there. But you can definitely do some neat things with them if you don't overdo it

This was the first hunting video I've put together so I'm open to any suggestions and feedback. DFerg's stuff looks like a great place to get ideas from!

LightHunter, I'm also new to the forums and what an awesome video to start of with. I've been trying to figure out how to create a couple of videos to promote my new DeadBird gun sight but I'm old school and just not up on all this new technology stuff. You might say that I am behind the curve somewhat...lol. First thing I need to do is get me a pup like young Harlie so I can kick back smell the roses when I'm fortunate enough to shoot one down. I gotta get me one of those gopros and learn how to use the darn thing...thanks for the tips.
