So between work commitments and the rain I did not have anytime to get my food plots in. Is it too late to worry about planting anything? I have corn feeders on my plots, should I just keep those?

You can still plant, plenty of time left.

We never ever plant after the first of sept. If you want good resluts i wouldnt wast the time or money doing it now.

I have planted as late as mid Oct. with pretty good results IF I got rain. One year, I planted in late Sept. and plowed in to lightly cover the seeds (otherwise, birds eat), first rain we got was in mid December, had a good stand of oats by mid January (a bit late)

Just planted ours a week and half ago. Put it in the ground and pray for rain.

I've planted oats as late as the last week of october, but just the edges of tree lines and roads to draw the deer out of the woods. Plant on Sunday come back and hunt the next Tuesday if there was enough moisture is right. If no moisture I'd wait til it rained.

I planted 2 weeks ago and have not enough rain to get it up really good yet. I planted early for this area taking a chance on the week of high rainfall chances that never happened.

My neighbor planted 50 acres of wheat last weekend.

Planting oats today. Had to wait on a little rain to start plowing. Now just hoping for a good rain soon.

Wheat and winter rye

We are planting oats this week but only because of the upcoming rains that are "suppose" to happen

I used to plant the first part of October planting oats and winter peas. No army worms and cooler temps. Took a chance this year that has not paid off so far. I could replant wheat and oats into November if needed.

We just planted our Wheat/Oat/Turnip plots in Southern Oklahoma two weeks ago. Planted Northern Missouri 3 weeks ago and Dad planted SE Kansas over Labor day weekend.

Depending on where you are in Texas, you might not want to plant until around now. Those worms can ruin a plot pretty quick.

Same, usually plant first day of Fall. Planted coker oats and dwarf essex rape eight days ago. Had fall armyworms eat a few hay patches on Monday, sprayed them sumbeechs.

I had them in my newly planted bermuda grass yard in early July I took a chance planting early since they were here last year when I did not plant oats in the fall. But the rains have missed me for the most part so it is getting late enough now I might get by. If they do get me I will just drill wheat over the oats that are left after I spray them. We used to plant oats the first week of Sept in South Texas and in the Hill Country, but just can't do that anymore with this heat and army worms. We did 96 today. I sure hope this front gets me some decent rain tomorrow night.

Planting triticale and winter peas this weekend.

Had the usual summer drought then caught a couple of inches mid-September. Everything greened up nicely. A couple of weeks later the army showed up..

I expect them here with the rain in May and June followed by green up then really dry. Recipe for them with that type of rain pattern. Had about an inch in early Sept that started to green up then no rain till Sat with .35". Had up to 80% chances for a couple of day in an 8 day forecast of some rain everyday. Got a whopping .15" total in those 8 days.

I screwed up and generally know better. This year I didn't get around to disking the soil in advance. A couple of weeks ago I got a 1.5 inch rain and about moisture about 10 inches deep. I didn't have time to do anything so showed up a week later to plant. On the way, I bought wheat, turnip and radish seeds. I hooked up a disk and got started. I was plowing dust. I hadn't counted on the super dry soil under the wet stuff. It had sucked it all. So now I have 10 bags of wheat plus 5 pounds each of turnips and radishes. If I get decent rain, I'll plant. I've done it successfully as late as 10/15. I'm not real optimistic.

i was at our lease a week ago and they were planting the wheat and i went out there yesterday and there is already a pretty good stand of wheat

We planted a 1/2 ton of Triticale last weekend in e tex. This was our first year to plant strickly Tritacale. In the past we allways did a 75% wheat/25% oats. Hoping the rain hits us late today
