Got out to my place yesterday morning in SW Young county. Didn't see anything, did hear 2-3 rifle shots within a half mile of me; hopefully they were thinning out the hoggies. Anyhow, the neighbor's grazing bull, ended up jumping two of my feeder pens and knocking off my protein feed tube and one of my spincast motors. To make matters worse, one of my cameras at one of two functioning feeders bit the dust and had just two pictures. Needless to say, it turned out to be more of a workday than a hunting day. Replaced the camera and put the protein tube back up, this time with 4 bolts instead of just two; will need to work on the spincast next time out. Just glad that the cattle are off until after season and ready to go out there with the only goal of hunting and feeder filling in mind. This prolonged drought seems to have the cows looking for the free meals more than ever; have previously had little to no cow pen jumping. Oh well, good luck to the rest of the season!

Cows will break and chew all kinds of strange stuff without enough grazing. Lucky you don't have goats on there. I've had lease trips like this. Hang in there.

It is a dry mf'er around here. Grazing has deteriorated drastically the last 2 weeks.

Cattle have personalities. I've had cattle on our place for about five years and most of the time the cows leave the feeders alone. This year the rancher put some distructive cows into the pasture. They have plenty to eat and are rolling fat, but they still come to the feeder when it went off. Not all but it only takes one.
I lost over two hundred pounds in one feeder overnight when one of those distructive cows turned it over right after I put corn in it. Like you he pulled the cows out for the season.

Once i learned that i didn't "NEED" to kill something, and that if i did kill something all the fun stopped and work began, i was a much better hunter.
