I got these spikes In 2 diff locations last year

Im guessing the first two pictures of the same spike are older maybe 2 yrs old

The bottom two are from a different area atleast 70yrds away from the first 2..

Also Im pretty set on taking atleast the oldest one because Im afraid he will send a bad jean.

Any imput would be awesom

Hard to tell much from those pics. Are those pics from last year?

I know its not that far away but 2 diff types of area
And the bottom two are in an open field it might max at 100 yrds, but again I understand how thats not much diff.
Just tring to figure if I should take out the older looking one.

The bottom right has a little kicker when you look at the better picture rather then the screen shot

Thanks again for yalls imput

Show the better pics of the bottom pics. It does appear to be the same deer as the top pics.

There are a few documented and tracked bucks that grew from spikes into a more desirable rack, but IMO its better just to put any spike in the freezer rather than hope for years he develops. All the while spreading his undesirable genes..

Probably an 8 pointer this year... I've gone back and forth on the spike thing, and there are plenty of other management practices that need to be put in place before blindly killing off yearling spikes.

JM thanks for motioning that he could be bigger this year..
I live near a small HWY and 2 nights ago I had caught some eyes on the side tring to come across from my wpods. Honked and faced them so they could run back into the area not the road.
It was a doe and atleast a 10
Never would have thought that it could be him I havent seen one that big back here.

No yearling deer should be taken. Any hunter competent enough to worry about management should be able to tell a yearling from a 2-3 yr old

I see some trapping in your future LOL. On the deer though, if you haven't gotten anymore spike pics maybe he has grown out of it. But if I saw the one with the bowed left tine, I'd definitely take him as he appears to be the older of the 2. How high is the camera on the corn pile set up? It really seems to be looking down on both deer rather than out at them.

Ooo yea thats NO JOKE!!!!
I havent caught any this year on cam just the one young'n I was face to face with that I had a chance to video. And he was coming out of the woods to the feeder. Would have been the first pic this season, since then its all coons and tracks of deer like 30yrds from feeder..

As for the cam, well its about chest height if I go any lower I have like 500pix of nothing lol!!!

What would be optimal height for the cam?

Like I have said any help and tips would be greatly appreciated

Well as long as you're getting pics then whatever works. I just like to have it so that it is looking out on the deer, rather than down at them. Which will give you a better idea of the size of the deer and also let the camera take pics further out and maximize its range. Sometimes they take a little playing with to get just right
