Last night I was thinking about the upcoming hunting season and what I wanted to put in the freezer. And I got to thinking about all the various wild game I've eaten: rattlesnake, whitetail deer, elk, nilgai, wild pig, coon, bison, turkey, white wing and mourning dove, quail, goose, duck, squirrel, rabbit. That's a lot, but nothing special.
So what odd thing have you guys had the hunger (or the nerve) to eat?
Not my monkeys, not my circus...

Not sure what I ate one time down in Laredo. The guy who took to a cafe, told us not to talk to anyone or ask what we were eating. It was edible

Got stuck a few extra days deer hunting on a ranch up near Abilene one year. We ran out of food but figured we could live off the land for a day or two no problem. Well, the rain set in and the hunting was awful. Lord knows how many miles I walked in the mud looking for a deer, rabbit, squirrel, or anything to eat. Never saw a thing. I ended up popping a few sparrows and meadow larks when the rain let up. They don't taste very good. Whataburger never tasted so good.

Two things I've eaten that probably curl peoples' noses up the most are armadillo and emu. I would eat both again.

Hmm, fried grasshoppers and beetles in Thailand, some things I didn't recognize in the Phillipines, whale blubber Ice cream in AK. Then all the standard big and small game animals. Alcohol may have been involved in some cases. ..

Beaver. Tastes good. Early trappers ate the tail as a delicacy. Might taste good if your body was screaming for fats, from eating lean rabbit, etc. I did not like.

Fried earthworms. Very good tasting. They remind me the shoestring potatoes I used to eat.

As a teenager I used to trap in the NJ meadows where Giants Stadium stands now. Primarily muskrats. My dad who was born 100 years too late as he often told us felt that the muskrats were fine for food. We ate them through the trapping season. He told us that Folks in La called em swamp rabbits and ate them regular. Never met a coon ars who admitted it however.

Normal odd stuff like escargot, calf fries, raw quail eggs, squid, etc. Most animals native to our area and a few exotics. I will try anything once.
When I was young I used to shoot everything with my BB gun. Father finally told me I had to eat everything I killed. Ate 2 robins, a meadowlark and think a sparrow. Robin does not taste like dove...

When SHTF, everyone is going to grab their bugout bags and live off the land. I actually like living off the land in Central or S Texas, I used to do it every other weekend growing up. We would camp for a weekend and only bring in water. If you wanted to eat you had to hunt for your food, and that was some of the best eating I've ever had roasted over a small camp fire. BUT, I wasn't prepared for the open ground up there. There was no cover to kick a rabbit out of, it was just open short grass with a few trees. Miles of walking with clay mud stuck to your boots. Had a rifle over my shoulder and a shotgun in my hands, that will ware you out Where I'm from, you can kick something out of the brush to eat in a pinch and go to bed. I was out of my element up there in Yankee Country .

I don't know what it was. It was in a little hole in the wall eatery in Okinawa....I couldn't read the menu so I just pointed at something......Whatever it was wasn't too bad! ....and yes alcohol was involved!

Hamburger is 3.5-4 in many places... I think many more will be trying different food soon.. Can only wonder what food cost would be with a 15$ min wage...

They have pictures with all the menus now or plastic representations of the food, you still don't know what it is but at least you know what it will look like. ..sort of lol

Balut once, if you know what it is you know it is gross, if you don't know consider yourself lucky! Kimche in South Korea was pretty good (fermented cabbage) and I actually had some last week.

Shot a deer right in the guts full of oats. Got all over the hind quarters; but we were hungry, smelled bad but we cooked it over a campfire.
