Hunting a trail along a creek so far a fat squirrel and mosquitos. Any have luck with using thermacells while hunting

I've shot two bucks within 40 yards of me while I was leaning against a tree and a thermacell on the ground next to me. They don't spook deer at all and they just plain work.
