What do you do as a bow hunter

The last 2 years you have shot bucks of 150 and 160. Both years you have watched a good 8 and good 10 on camera and in person but have shot the other bucks. On camera the 8 and 10 disappear from all cams by the 3rd week in October every year. These bucks are now at least 6.5 years old and will both score 135-140 and have declined from last year. They are now old dominant bucks. You havent seen anything better on camera this year. Knowing the odds are good these bucks will disappear again and given their age, would you shoot on one of the first 2 weekends if they gave you a shot or do you hold off hoping to see something better later in the year?

Reminder: You are only a bow hunter and hunt in the panhandle in a 1 buck county.

That depends on what else new shows up in the next couple of weeks. Any damage as far as breeding they have done was done over the past few years. So you won't reverse that with killing them now. What did they score in their best year?

I don't worry that much about it. If I see a deer I like, then I shoot it.

For me, if I had better bucks on the wall I would be tempted to pass. Bucks can travel a long way in the rut. Just because you haven't seen one on camera doesn't mean you won't have an opportunity at something else.

Do you need/want the meat? Would you have chances later to get a doe or smaller buck for meat? What about giving another family member a chance at them?

This and that's the deal with cams you think you have not saw anything better but you are very wrong , I tend to want to wait to long an even pass a buck that I know I should shoot but the thing that drive me is the ideal that I may and could see a bigger one at any time.

I'd take one of them. On a side note I wish I had this problem.

Haha I was gonna ask about this. I'd like to meet a deer I didn't like. Good for story telling.

I've met a couple of deer over the years I didn't like...but I still killed them anyway grin
