So I've been lucky enough to find a place where it can be pretty good hunting. This morning I took my son out and they all were flying twice as high as the last time I was there.

This is the first year that I've found a huntable number so I don't know what the difference was. Is it that they are getting smart or is it that there was zero wind? I could see how higher wind would make the fly lower but that was just a guess.

Our white wings have been flying the same elevation all year, today they were at least 30% higher than normal.

I bet you might be onto something with that wind talk

Attention rickym, this is not a troll post, just a good hearted fun type of post

You Got to hope for a cloudy day. I just got back from the South zone opener. Limited out on mourning doves first day. The second day we hit the white wings. We were in thier flight path going in and out of a field. The ones coming in were up high. The ones flying out were perfect. Cloudy morning they flew lower.

Sometimes it's hard being me! But somebody has to do it.

The white wings in my neck of the woods are flying in groups half of them up with the airplanes and the other half especially late morning from 9-1030 coming in low to shoot at. But I've noticed that they are very educated and will see my movements before they come in from far off and do a 90 deg turn. I've also had a few hear they safety click off and they jump into evasive actions when it's. Calm and no wind. They fly better with some wind rather than dead humid air is harder for them to flap and fly.
I primarily have a south or south east wind across my area and they love to come in across it when they come Into the mojos. How ever last couple days they have came within 60 yards of the mojos and turn off and circled out of range. Wind of 5-10 has been good flights lately in the mornings. My afternoons have been hit or miss. Today it was a miss only saw 2 groups out of range and a few others straggling by doing 50 mph last few mins of LST. I didn't see a single morning dove all weekend. This week front has pushed my birds out and I'm hoping the morning brings some new ones.

OK, so I guess I'm waiting for a cloudy breezy day. Had a blast though on the good hunts, they're a lot of fun. I need to get some #6. The only time I've ever killed more than a couple of white wings before this year they looked like this...

A good north wind will bring them down some. Did they drop down after you fired at them?

Throw in some old # 2's for them high flyers and watch them helicopter down. Ha!

I did get a couple of helicopters... smile

But the one I won't forget was the kamikaze. Flying right to left up pretty high around 45 yards. Shot hard and its right wing cupped and left one folded up. So it took an out of control left turn right back at me. Dang near hit me, almost fell outta my chair trying to duck out the way with a big thud when it hit the ground.

worthless

I don't always shoot deer, but when I do, I prefer B&C's.
I don't always shoot ducks, but when I do, I prefer banded ducks.

I've been trying to catch one all season when they come falling at me. I've been close twice.

Right when it hit the ground I knew that's what I should have done!
