Looking at the single pin instead of my spot hogg 5 pin. I like the adjustments on these new single pins and currently im looking at the HHA and the Black Gold sights.

The HHA talks about how you can adjust the glow of the pin depending on the light outside. Does this work or is it just a marketing tool?

Two reasons ive narrowed these two down.

1) HHA is at bass pro and I have gift cards there so it wont cost me any actual money
2) Black gold are at my local archery shop and that makes it easy if I have questions or concerns.

I have never tried either brand, but I hear a lot of good about both. Pick the one that has the features you like, and give it a shot. You can always swap back to the multi pin and sell the slider.

HHA has some good units. I was going to change to theirs this year instead on my 5 pin but ran out of time.

I've been using a Trophy Ridge Pursuit single pin, but I just ordered an HHA OL-5519. The adjustable brightness is what HHA calls a mechanical rheostat. A friend of mine has an HHA sight with that feature and he has told me it works as advertised. You just slide the hood on the scope area around the pin forward or backward and it exposes more fiber optic material or covers more up depending on how bright you want your pin. They are very good sights from what I've seen and read.

I have been shooting a single pin sight for quite a while. love them, not so cluttered in your sight pitcure. had the HHA single pin slider going on the 4th season and really like it. it has held up good with some pretty harsh treatment. Forrest

Either would be a quality choice, and personally I prefer shooting a single pin, but this close to season I would be nervous making big, new changes to my hunting bow.

Been along time since I shot my bows, but I switched from a 5 pin, to just 2 and found it much "cleaner" in the peep. New sight pins are probably much better IDK, I quit when fiber optic was the big "thang"

Jthoele,
I agree with making changes this close to the season but I don't have a lease.
My first hunt will be late October so I still have time.

Thinking the HHA is the one I like best.

Thanks y'all and good luck this season.

ive been using single pin before there were sliders. i currently use a slider and they are awsome for targets, in the field you dont always have time to adjust on a live animal, i suggest you leave it at 25yds and practice different distances without sliding. multiple pins always confused me in the field a single is much easier to just aim a little higher. i won a 3d shoot using one pin no range finder. it gets easy with practice.

I switched from an HHA slider to a spot hogg 5 pin on my hunting bow. I really like the uncluttered sight picture and everything in general about the HHA but for hunting it didn't make sense to add one extra step of adjusting the sight.

I feel the same. I tried the single pin and it just wasn't practical for my hunting application. I have the Spot Hogg and wouldn't go back. I don't even notice the other pins and if a deer is walking away or to me, I don't have to reset anything.

Good luck up

I prefer the single. Even though I have an adjustable, my bow is fast enough that I can just leave it set at 20 and practice compensating a little bit to shoot out to thirty. That keeps it really simple for me as I don't take shots at white tail farther away than that.

I was the same until I started hunting Kansas. A lot of trail hunting and shots out to 40 yards and I practice out to 50. In Texas, I won't shoot past 30 yards so a single pin would be fine.

Makes a lot of since. I shoot the hha single pin and have always just adjusted. And I am like you Mark I have shot deer out to 30 while it was set on 20 yards.

My problem is I can't make out where the vitals are on a Texas size WT @ 50 yards and of course they like to duck the arrow. I can see where maybe this isn't as much of a problem with those Kansas size deer.

Got the HHA yesterday and sighted in it at 20. Will get it at 60 sometime soon. Gotta wait for a calm day though.

I wish the pin was .10 instead of .19.

Makes a huge difference past 50 yards.

I think I would have had to order it direct from HHA in order to get the .010

So far I really like the sight.
