I just watched this guy take a buck with the "Texas Heart Shot" bang on the Outdoor Channel. Still managed to convince himself this was an ethical shot.

I saw that as well. First thing I though was "that guy will never hunt on any property I might have." Chris Bracket, you are officially not welcome to hunt with me. That was a BS. I could see if I were starving, and the deer was 50 yards away, and I had .338 ultramag or something, I might consider a shot like that, but at over 100 yards with a muzzleloader? No effing way!

Up the wazoo. Deer runs away for 50-100 yards or so, then stops and looks behind at the hunter. Mulies do this alot, but whitetails will too.

Well, he got the deer and the photo.
According to many on here, that proves it's a great place to shoot 'em.

This is why I stopped watching most of them. They just want the kill to film.

This ^

Myself and two buddys went goose hunted with Stand Field outfuters in Knox city ( great guys) had a film crew makeing a video, something like Snodgrass Hunts of a Life Time. It was a joke the guys on video could not hit anything. They were using 3 inch 10 gauge shooting birds at 10 yards. The film crew was filming be hide us trying to get kill shots. After it was all over they were high fiving over birds we shot.

And it seems anyone and everyone has a new show out right now. I mostly watch to see the animals and have to change the channel because of the cast. There are very few that I truly enjoy watching anymore.

I agree a lot of the shows on are hard to watch. I do like Major League Bow Hunting though.

I've stopped watching them because of same and the fact that 20 minutes of a thirty minute show are commercials!

Maybe it's because I don't have any hunts really nailed down this year but I can't seem to turn off the Sportsman channel as well as Outdoor channel. I can't get enough of the stuff! I even convince her to watch her junk in the bedroom so I can drool over all the fancy hunting shows!

I need me a dang lease.

The vast majority of the TV shows either promote product constantly, shoot 2-3 year old deer, or the host has a criminal record - Spook Spahn indicted for game law violations, breaks his probation, pays fine and goes to jail, and Pursuit channel renews his TV show and his sponsors continue to sponsor him. And we wonder why in some circles hunting is getting a bad name?

Back in the day. Made several hunting shows as a guide. Won't mention the shows, but ruined me from ever watching another.

Watched a bow hunt a couple days ago. It was an extreme quartering away shot. The guy spent 10 minutes trying to justify the arrow traveling through the guts because it eventually got to the vitals and the deer died quickly.

No doubt it didn't run any further or take any long to die, but for me a shot that in any way touches the guts is a poor shot and an accident, not on purpose.

It does surprise me that with all the footage these people get, they'll actually air this kind of stuff. I hadn't seen the Texas heart shot one yet until it was posted here, then I saw the re-run. Maybe I'm wrong, I don't know but that seemed to be something an absolute rookie would do. Or it appeared that all his preaching about conservation and giving back to the community was washed away with that petty act, again imho. I'm no pro, I'm not even a novice but dang, that just looked so unprofessional to me and the fact that it was the first thing he said after the shot tells me he knew it wasn't right, but they aired it anyway! I can't believe that

How about all the other shows that push the crap out of certain products to make yourself more accurate, only to have missed shots seconds later. Then ANOTHER commercial will come on after that! It just seems weird to me they'd do it that way.

If the Texas heart shot is unethical, how are you supposed to shoot dove as they are flying away from you? confused2

The only one I watch is Benny Spies, it's all fair chase and for the love of the sport. Out of all the episodes I've seen he has never taken a big trophy. But to him they are all trophies. The guys kind of a hack but he cracks me up, no joke, watch a few episodes. One episode he gets permission to hunt a golf course...good stuff

Why is it that every time I push #1 for english, I cannot understand the person on the other end???
