Two weeks ago I missed some hogs on a friends place up north so I promised him when I come back I'll have a new setup on optics and I'll let him do the shooting. I went back last night to his place right around sunset, we got loaded up and started scanning with the thermal around 8:30 and nothing was moving. We started to walk back to the ranger and I spotted a pig coming out of the creek bed about 60yds to our right he locked up for a sec but pushed right through the fence. I got the rig setup for my buddy to shoot but the DVR wouldn't record so I told him to shoot anyways, he shot 6 times and with the muffs I had on I heard 3 slaps but it didn't slow this pig down at all. We was in shock because that rifle is loaded and sighted in with 178gr amax ammo, we tried to track that bastard for an hr with no luck and we eventually gave up and tried some other areas. Around 11pm we had to bog through a creek and up a hill to another pasture just north of where we started he killed the ranger immediately. My buddy Jeffry saw something in the thermal about 30-40ft to our right but I didn't know what the hell he saw he jumped out and grabbed his .357 ranch rifle and cut on his bright "miners lamp" and walked right up to it. The entire time I was thinking it was a rabbit or possum, with the lamp on his head I'm watching the entire thing from the ranger he walks up to it and takes two steps back and fires it's the "DAMN" hog he shot earlier and it still had plenty of fight left. With 2-3 rounds of .308 and .357 to the neck this damn hog ran off in a herd of cows, Jeffry was like a jack Russell terrier on a squirrel with just the thermal in his hand I had to slow him down and tell him to wait for the cows to run off. After I got him settled down I spotted the pig and mounted the thermal to the M1A and sent him on his way moments later 5 more shots rang out and the hog was done... Two shots to the rear end, two hoofs almost amputated, one to the neck and two brutal shots behind the shoulder, and one that blew his tail off which is laying on the hog in the pic. This was Jeffry's first time behind the thermal unfortunately the LOP was to much for his short arms and it was a challenge for him to shoot properly but he got his hog and now he's hooked but I told him next time go for a damn headshot it'll save is all of this walking and running lol.

Sorry for the long read guys eek these hunts just never get old lol.
