Me and a buddy regularly took limits of ducks off one of the most popular lakes in North Texas (just north and east of Denton) using a 12' jon and a 9.5 evninrude. Location, location, location. The guy above who said "ditch the boat and become a tree" nailed it.

If your hunting anywhere near B/CS.....good luck. Youre limited on options. Search craigslist. If you're buying used make sure you get a titled boat, if you don't you've wasted your money. Unless you're planning on paddling it.

Even though the seller owns the property, it is the money that is driving the deal. You own the money. When I first got into procurement my boss told me to always remember the Golden Rule. He who has the gold makes the rules... I've learned that while most of the time that is the person with the cash, every now and then you find a seller who has the upper hand. You just have to decide how bad you want it!

Advice from a recent Aggie Grad: Save the money you would spend on a boat. Use said money for truck gas. Drive as far as you can make it from BCS and hunt there. You would also be well advised to point the truck north

Thanks for all the feedback everyone! Lots of options to consider. And yes, I definitely get far from the BCS area. It can be a mess out here.
