Wondering if anyone else has had this problem. I am new to the sport(had my bow for two weeks) and have been shooting my bow almost every night getting ready for bow season and tonight I noticed my release was firing before I hit the trigger. Twice while drawing back and I put two arrows through my fence! A few times when I was at full draw. Am I doing something wrong or is my release malfunctioning?

Your D loop could have the strands broken in the middle allowing it to slip through. The outside cover would be intact making it hard to notice. I got a fat lip like this before. Or it may need to be adjusted. Most of them can be adjusted and yours may be set too light.

I work hard, drink a little and hunt when I can.

Are you making sure the jaws are completely closed before pulling back? And keeping your finger behind the trigger?

Make sure and come to full draw with all your fingers / grip behind the trigger.
I blew up a bow last week by not paying attention... bad habit that's costly.

Prematurely going off is a big let down! Finger behind the trigger throughout draw cycle?

If the string loop is not worn out, and the release is fairly new, check the release tension set screw at the base of the trigger that controls how hard you have to squeeze the trigger before it fires. It may have loosen out. It doesn't happen very often, but I had it happen once.

A lot of things broke on my first bow because I shot it three or four times a week for months. But I never had an issue with the d-loop. I would re-evaluate your release. What make and model are you using?

the tension screw was loose. I put some loctite on it and it is all good. Being new to bow hunting I was a little worried. I have been shooting it atleast 4 times a week since I got it. Went to the ranch yesterday and got so shoot it out of my tree stand which is pretty cool. Looking forward to deer season!

Now I just have to get over the soreness in my bow arm elbow. Maybe I've been practicing too much? Nah!
