Worked at TBR yesterday where I help out with hog and predator control for a buddy. My regular stand had developed wood rot in the floor. I had left my previous hunt early when I heard the floor cracking. Had I stayed much longer, I would have been dumped on the ground. So we hooked up that stand to the tractor and carried it back to the shop for repairs. In the mean time, an old wooden stand is taking its place and I used it to hunt my normal spot.

The deer seemed to recognize that something was up, but as noted in the vid, maybe it was the boar that wasn't too far behind them.

The first shot caught the boar in the left shoulder, breaking it, and not over penetrating. The second shot was a bit high and missed. The third shot hit about dead center of the top of the spine and part of the bullet exited out between the front legs. In retrospect, this anchoring shot probably was not necessary, but he ran after the first shot and I wasn't having him get up to try it again, by golly!

The Armasight Zeus continues to perform well.

Oh man, glad you didn't fall through that thing (high stand). It is a good reminder for folks at deer season approaches to test the flooring of that blind "Old Faithful" before piling in with gear and all to hear creeking. smile

Nice Shoosting Brian.

You saw in the video how the stand was carried back to the shop. Despite going very slowly, the jostling really loosened up things which sort of demonstrates how bad the floor was. This is what it looked like when I opened the door to hold the bolts as the landowner took off the nuts underneath so that we could disassemble the stand and replace the floor.

Had not noticed the condition of the wood because there was a section of carpet in the bottom of the stand that was there to reduce noise.

Yes, Ben, it is a good reminder to check such things. I certainly didn't expect this. The owner checked the companion fiberglass stand that is a twin to this one and the floor was perfectly fine. Go figure.

Think they are climbing up in the stand and peeing in the corners?

Probably a pig pyramid, you know they are smart... The Alpha Sow should be held accountable for this attempt to ruin your favorite TBR hunting stand.

Kbar - That is a Tactical Brass Recovery brass catcher. http://www.tacticalbrassrecovery.com/

I have the least expensive or "Standard Issue" version.

Drawbacks? Only one. Expense.

Advantages?
Thumb screws onto side rail for and always remains in position until removed.
Bag does not melt when contacted by hot brass
Works with (as tested so far by me) .308 down to .22. Right now I use in on my Grendel
The top hood that hold open the bag is hinged and can fold down to allow for carrying rifle in rifle bag without removing brass catcher

You can certainly find cheaper brass catchers, but I don't think you can find a better one. I use it for the range and use it for hunting including stalking and it holds up well. Apparently, the company stands behind their products quite well. You can check with Texas Lawman about that. He is the one who turned me on to these brass catchers and he has been using them for quite a while now.
