I am SW of Houston...and looking for a pointer / bird dog trainer for a 1 yr old English Setter. On an internet search, I saw TGR Gundog Kennels in Bullard, TX...has anyone had any experience with TGR / Rob Martin?
Thanks, Norm

** Also, any trainer that you were happy with... closer to Houston where I live would be ideal...we visit the Fort Worth area regularly as well...thanks again!

I saw another bird dog trainer on the internet today...anyone have experience with Bootleather Gundogs in Waco, TX.. / Keith Hickam Professional Dog Trainer? Their pics and articles on their website were from 2008...so just wondering.

I live near Houston...and looking for an upland bird dog trainer for initial e-collar conditioning, backing etc for a 1 yr old English Setter. I have a nine year old pointer he can hunt with...and we go out with other dogs/hunters prolly 12 - 15 times a year (pointing 30 - 40 pen raised birds per morning) at Top Flight Hunting Preserve in Columbus TX.

Thanks,
Norm

Had my pointer trained at T&T near San Angelo. It's a hike but she did a hell of a job. How do you like hunting at Top Flight? Was thinking about making a few hunts there to get the dog some work.

Don't know anything about them but I had my dog trained at Ronnie Smith's Kennel in Big Cabin Oklahoma. It was well worth it. They did an outstanding job. We took her to Kansas last year and shot 75 pheasants over her. She is awesome Also went to Box H in Stephenville a few times last year. My dog was on their website a few years ago

I like Topflight for many reasons...I have only been hunting there for about 5 years...I like that it is about 1.25 hours from SW Houston...and I can be back by noon if I need to...and most times ...back home by 2pm after some great bbq in East Bernard. we take 59 to South main Hwy 90...to county rd 71...the prices are within reach of the working man with a dog...and competitive if you don't have a dog...they will guide you etc http://www.topflighthunting.com/
