Short range 100 and less yards at the moment. It's a 300 blackout. Deer and hogs. Will be used by multiple shooters with different eye reliefs and lesser experience shooting. I'm thinking red dot. But also kinda thinking like the Leupold vx hog. Thoughts?

Red dots are FUN.

Aimpoint PRO are awesome w/great battery life.
Vortex Strikefires are a little more budget friendly and sport red/green dots.

Scope it with one of the 1 to 4 or 6X scopes with lighted scopes, there are several out there now. At 1X it behaves a lot like a red dot and turn it up for seeing the target better.

I have the Hog Plex on one of my blackouts used primarily for hog hunting. I like it a lot. Some people complain about "hog plex" being seen within the horizontal reticle but when you are sighting in on a target or animal, it is not part of your sight picture.

I also have on another Blackout, a 1-4x Optisan Mamba from SWFA, it is an illuminated reticle that I use hunting hogs in low light conditions. I like it a lot but it is heavier and a bit longer in length than the Hog Plex.

Picked up my first AR about 10 days ago. I chose the vortex viper pst 1-4 from SWFA and am very pleased with the clarity, illuminated reticle and the functionality of the scope.

Not knowing your budget, the Burris Mtac 1-4 was second on my "list" and is a $100 or so cheaper.

Again, SWFA has some package deals with mounts that save you a few $$$ and you can save 8% as a member of the THF; the discount code is thf8.

No, I don't have any affiliation w SWFA, just a satisfied customer.

Best of luck with your choice/purchase.

Vortex Viper or Buris Mtac 1-4x. They will do everything a red dot will do and then some.

I have the Mark AR 1.5-4 SPR on my .300BO and think it is great. One really cool thing is that my hundred yard zero with supersonics is the exactly same zero with subsonics by simply moving down to the first hashmark. I can switch between super and subs without changing a thing.
