I set out the hog trap with my bait to get a hog or two. BUT what I got was not a hog

she was just looking

is getting a little too curious

Too late

baby wants mommy

Land owner wife and her friend let her go.

I got a call from her telling me what happen and that she and a friend was going let it go.

There are now having a big laugh at me (so am I) if I get any more I will use that bait for Deer season. I know I am not the only one who got a deer in a hog trap who else have?

John

I've got pictures of deer in the trap and coming back out. thankfully none of them have tripped it yet! cheers
Some advice I've gotten is to brush it in around the door and the deer won't go in but the hogs will push through. I still need to do that.

we seem to catch at least one every year. Almost always a young buck.

This afternoon I will be going out to fix the trap and set it. I will be putting some stuff in front of it to I hope to keep the deer out. We will see. I got my bait ready and I will put pics up after I set it tonight. well back to paying bills trapping later.

A lot of people that trap hogs have done the same as you. Personally, I would take the pics down because it gives the anti-hunters ammo against us hunters. You didn't do anything wrong and you corrected the situation.

I would soak the corn in diesel, keeps the deer away but not always the raccoons.

I had a little buck last year get too curious - getting him out of the trap was not easy...he simply didn't know the exit was wide open for him. Reset the trap and had the javelina...let them go too. Then it was just hogs for the rest if the season.

I trapped a 6 point a few years ago. He couldn't have been in there for more than 5 hours and was tore up bad. He was not happy at all to see me.

Caught a doe not too long ago.

Not fun at all. Banged herself up pretty good, but fairly certain she survived.

Caught a steer before too. Talk about putting an integrity test on a hog trap!

I try to use soured corn when I can in the traps since catching the deer in there. They seem to stay away from the stinky stuff.

Have yet to catch a WT in my traps, but it happens. My place is remote, with no onsite owner or other hunter to see stuff like that, so I can't really leave traps set if I'm not right there to make the rounds periodically to watch for stuff like that...
