Hey quick question about Ray Roberts. Are there specific areas to dove hunt out there? I have a neighbor that has family land that backs up to the corp land and he thought that they can just hunt anywhere out there. I tried calling the lake today and I kept getting passed around until finally one person said to call the GW(which it just rang and rang). SO I figured I would ask some of y'all.

Also I didn't see anywhere where it said I needed any other permit beside the standard hunting and migratory lic. Do I need to get a public hunt permit also? I have not hunted around lakes before so I want to make sure I follow the rules.

I'm like 99.6% sure you have to have the APH license to hunt at Ray Bob.

Thanks for the help guys. I guess we can hunt the land next to his as long as it is not part of the state park.

I actually ran into this last night. The game warden on Ray Roberts is cracking down on that. There are some land owners that are using the public land as their own personal game reserve. They do not have public permits, and they are hunting, trapping, fishing, and everything else on that land. The warden out there is on the lookout for people doing that now with game cameras and flyovers. Even if you own the land next to it, you HAVE TO have the public permit to hunt any of that land, state park or not. Don't do it until you get the permit. $48 for the permit at wal mart is a lot less than the fine the warden will give you, and you could lose your gun or more if they see fit.

Thanks for the help. I planned on getting the permit. I am a big time rule follower when it comes to hunting. I like my guns too much to chance a losing them for a single hunt.

on a side note...to bad I can't hunt the park in my neighborhood. About 30-40 dove just sitting in the middle of a patch of grass. I could just hear them teasing me.
