Can anyone please help me identify this snake? This is the second one I've found in the house in four days. I've been told a rat snake but I haven't seen/heard any signs of rats or mice. Sounds like I might have a problem in my attic and my wife is beyond freaked out. Thanks.

It's some form of rat snake. No worries to you but I wouldn't want it in my crib

Texas Rat Snake. You might want to get in touch with a exterminator. We found one in our camp house on the hunting lease and then found 7 over the first 4 days we were there. He to get the exterminators in before we could get a group of grown men to go back in and sleep in the house.

Ya its been a couple of restless nights since we found the first one. I'll call an exterminator first thing tomorrow. Thank y'all for the help.

No need to worry about those, kinda cranky but harmless. What city are you in?

I'm in Lavon, just outside Rockwall. I was going to catch it and relocate like I did the first one but my wife wanted it dead this time. A little Clorox did the trick on the carpet. Exterminator will be here tomorrow morning.

Understood, gotta' keep the wife happy. As far as most of 'em go no snake in the house is a good snake!! Bottom line, gotta' keep the wife happy. cheers

Oh, and tell her to buy some mouse traps next time she's at the store, since you just killed the one y'all had. Just sayin'...

Coyotes eat mice to but I don't want one in my house. Get them things out of there.

I once drank muddy water out of a hoof print and was dang glad to get it.

Generally when they get scared, they will give off a stinky musk smell.
