I bought a Parker Tornado crossbow almost 4 years ago from Bass Pro Shops in San Antonio. For the past couple of archery seasons it's been a great crossbow, and I have dropped quite a few deer and hogs with it. However, the beams are starting to get hairline splits in them, and the string is getting a bit frayed now. I don't want to shoot it anymore until I can get it serviced. However, when I called Bass Pro Shops, they told me they don't service crossbows anymore (go figure). Are there any places near San Antonio that can repair a Parker crossbow? I've struck out with the bow shops I've called so far.

If Bass Pro Shops still carries the brand I would talk to a manager and see if he will work with you. I know they won't personally service your crossbow, but maybe they can give you the contact information for the factory and at least talk to the Parker crossbow customer service rep. Once you get the info you will more than likely have to handle it through the manufacturer who should have some type of customer assistance. If not, stay away from Parker crossbows and go with one that does. As for achery shops here in town, the only one that I know of that used to work on crossbows was Gassmans archery. I haven't been in that store in over 20 years since I tried to get a bow worked on and Gary Gassman asked me where I bought the bow? I told him, "on line" and he told me I needed to spend my money only in Texas rather than out of state. That was the last time I was in his store!

I don't blame you there Jimbo...I haven't heard anything good about Gassman's archery. I tried to call Parker, but apparently their operating hours and my working hours don't seem to quite match up, and I keep missing them. I know if I call them, they are probably going to tell me to ship the crossbow back to them to fix, and I cringe at the thought of the shipping charge I'm gonna have to incur. I was looking to see if someone good with crossbow repair locally might be able to fix my crossbow if Parker mailed me the parts and I took them in to their shop. I'll take your advice and go talk with the manager at Bass Pro Shops, and see if they can assist me somewhat, as they still carry Parker crossbows. I really love my Parker Tornado, and would much rather try to save it versus having to give it up for something else.

Thanks! Don't know why I didn't even think about Cabela's before. I'll definitely give them a call. It's a bit of a drive for me, but I'm always looking for a good excuse to go there the few times I make my way up towards Austin.
