Looking for any info on the spread of free range axis in Texas. Everything I have found is years old, I know Gillespie county is a big one. Maybe a map by county?

They range in the hill country counties like Kerr, Kendall, blanco, Gillespie, Kimble, mason and Bandera

You will get some straggler populations but these are the main ones.

I've had them free range on ranches in Val Verde and Crockett Counties. They are in a lot of counties.

McCulloch County has a large amount along Brady Creek and other areas of the county. I would think Menard and Concho County have some also. La Salle County had a large herd along the Nueces River east of town along Hwy 624. I would also think Uvalde, Kinney, Real and Edwards has them.

Sutton County has Axis and a little bit of everything. Schleicher County has Axis and Blackbuck East of 277.

There's about 25 just south of Dallas in Trinity bottoms.

Saw 2 dead on the side of the road near Okalla.

A few reports I've heard of on Coke county around our lease - but I think those are escapees

I'm convinced that in some areas in Kendall country around Boerne they equal or outnumber whitetails.

IME, driving from Kerrville to Sonora, I will see more axis than whitetails along the side of the road, either dead or alive.
