I go to the lease today to check my cameras. I pull up to one camera which is on a pipeline. My feeder is 350 yards from the property line. While checking the camera I see a feeder on the adjacent property that has been recently been put up. I drive to the fence line and the feeder is 40 yards from the property line and I see a box stand about 75 yards from the property line. My question is how would you deal with this situation?

Honestly, there's nothing to deal with. You're on your side of the fence, he's on his. Unless his blind is set up in an orientation where a shot is going to cross into your property, there's nothing you can do. I'm assuming since you asked, you don't know the other people across the fence.

I don't know them. And if they shoot toward the feeder it will also be directly toward my sons feeder/blind

I would send the property owner a registered letter saying something like the following.

I've noticed the recent placement of a feeder about 40 yards from our mutual property line, and a deer stand about 75 yards from the line. While I recognize your right to place feeders and stands anywhere you want on your property, placement of the feeder and stand that close to the line is not a particularly friendly or safe thing to do. You should recognize that a deer shot that close to the line may very well cross over to my property before dying. Please be advised that you do not have permission to track wounded deer on my property and any action to to so will be viewed as trespass and acted upon accordingly.

I think I would talk about the shot traveling over the property line and that being unsafe vs. informing them they aren't welcome to track a deer. What if you deer goes over the line?

I don't think you can automatically assume that they won't behave themselves. Other factors can play in. How big is the place next door? Maybe there aren't a lot of options for them. I would be tempted to talk to them, judge what their intentions are and address the situation from there. If your approach is adversarial it probably won't foster a good relationship. You also may need to track a wounded animal and would most likely want to ask for permission to do so and receive a positive response. I guess my point is don't jump to conclusions. One never likes to see a blind and feeder near or on the fence line but that person may just be inexperienced and not know that at the least it's poor etiquette. If it's a scumbag trying to "poach" then you can also deal with that accordingly.

I'd do what folks used to do, talk to them first.. Letters, calling the GW, etc.. are all great ideas but before you escalate the situation just talk to them.. Don't make it more difficult than it has to be..

Nothing you can do really. Some hunters are just plain stupid and inconsiderate. I have dealt with this on my place and its really big acreage. I have made areas just across from these feeders our gut disposal area, but in the end, that is about all the revenge I got and really no satisfaction. You might just stick up a trail camera up in that area to make sure you don't have any trespassing.

Was at by lease today doing a little work, clearing trees, etc, when I heard the unmistakable sound of t-post pounding behind my blind. I'm about 100-150 hundred yards from the fence line with some real nasty draws and heavy cover in between. I drive around the pasture, get out and walk the fence and could see a feeder pen being built about 50 yards off the fence line. Not happy about that because they have another blind and feeder down the same fence and about the same difference away. So that makes two setups along that same fence line. Anyways, I don't see whoever was doing the pounding, so I didn't have a chance to discuss the situation. Drove the CR on the side of the properties and could see their blind about 50 ft off the CR and again not 50 yds from our fence. My landowner was not happy about the first setup they had so he'll probably go off about 2 setups so close. They have to be trying to pull deer off our place because their place is the same 400 acres as ours and only have 2 hunters. But, then again, what can you do?

My only concern is the fact that if they shoot toward their feeder it will be directly toward my sons stand. Yes his stand is 400 yards away but you never know how a bullet will travel. I am not comfortable with the situation at all and if it comes down to it I will pick a different spot for my son to hunt. I have contacted the land owner and they act like they really don't care what their hunters do as long as they are paying the lease. My family has had the place for 20 years and have never been disrespectful to any of the adjacent landowners or deer hunters that lease their property. I only hope that if I am able to meet them that I can convence them to at least move the feeder to the other side of their stand.

I guess I could always put a stand up on the property line right in front of them. But with my luck I would end up with a bullet in me.

I'd try talking to the actual hunter, with that in mind. Tell him you'd hate to HAVE to place a blind right there on the fence. Just important for their safety, as it is for your sons.
