Pulled out the Citori Gran Lightning 28ga yesterday for a little fun. I didn't quite get a limit but should have. One of those days when the shooting was a bit off. One of those guns that is a pure pleasure to shoot.

I just pulled the trigger on another one, so to speak. I have the Ruger Red Label 28 and that is my all time favorite shotgun. My wife kept stealing it so I decided to find her one. The prices of the Red Labels are out of this world now so I dropped $500 on a CZ Redhead 28 for her. Either way I get to shoot a 28 again when we hunt together.

Here is the link to the one I just bought.

I am choosing duck loads right now. I have a chouice twix #7 or #5 pellet. &s in bismuth would be a killer in the timber. At 25 yards that should "whack dat arse". But then again the #5 pellet is what I grew up shooting, in lead of course. #5s hit really hard!

I have a honey hole that's tight shooting the wood ducks and gadwall just drop in on your head and I thought it would be fun shooting them with a sub gauge, what ammo do you shoot I was thinking hevi metal 4's or 5's

A 28 will roll ducks up like a window shade.

I love my Red Label 28, and have been using it on the doves so far this season. Planning on trying it for the ducks as well, I may roll my own though. What are the prices like on 28 gauge steel loads.

I found some Winchester 6's on sale for $100 shipped last year at Roger's. They should be great for teal. Last year on late season KS mallards they were fine on the first shot at decoying birds 10-20 yards, but I'd say I crippled 75% on my second shot when they flushed out of the hole.

I reloaded some 7/8oz #7.5 Hevi-shot @ 1350fps. Those were flat unfair on those birds. I felt I could kill them just as far as my 12ga with #3 steel.

Got to get out this afternoon for my first dove hunt this year. Took my Franchi 48 AL 28 gauge. Lots of fun. Only ended up with 4 in a little over an hour.

Got to use my Benelli Ultra-Light 28 ga. for the first time on opening day. Will take some time to adjust but it was fun using it.
