Any members of the South Texas Quail Coalition here? Never heard of it until a few weeks when driving through Kingsville saw a billboard for a banquet.

Yea, tickets are $160 and it's black tie. No, I won't be going. Not the price the tux. I am a redneck!!
There is time, and you must take it, to lay your hand on your dog's head as you walk past him lying on the floor or on his settle, time to talk with him, to remember with him, time to please him, time you can't buy back once he's gone" GBE

If you don't make the banquet you don't hear from them till the next banquet. They used to haveget togethers in San Antonio to talk about quai stuff but I haven't heard a thing since last banquet

I am a member of the quail coalition and I manage to make the banquet every year. I can attest that I have never seen a single black tie or tuxedo at any of them. As to the ticket price, I was given a ticket this year, in years past it has been around $75 ahead of time, and $100 if purchased at the door. Every one is fed a delicious game dinner, and of course there are the requisite girls circulating and selling tickets for prizes to be raffled off, and some fantastic hunting and fishing trips, bird dog puppies, etc. to be actioned off ...just like any other sportsmen's banquet. It is my understanding that the bulk of the money raised (which is substantial) goes to fund LOCAL quail research projects (ie Caesar Kleberg Wildlife Institute's programs, etc. in our neck of the woods) Unlike some other organizations...no one in administration gets a salary. I always have a grand time visiting with old friends, the open bar , and spending too much on raffle tickets...altho this year I walked out with about $500 worth of fly fishing equipment. San Antonio's Chapter had their own banquet, as did every other chapter. As I said, the money raised is spent locally....check it out next year....You'll have a ball. It is worthwhile, and at least at the STQC banquet, altho you would be quite a spectacle in your black tie and tails, you would be most welcome.

Pointer- You are correct, each QC chapter independently decides where the money they raise goes. It does not get sent away to a national chapter and spent elsewhere.
