Just to satisfy my curiosity, who is shooting a 16 gauge at dove this year. I'll give it a start. I will be using the 16ga at everything but big ducks.

Yes they do! I love the 16ga for shooting birds. I reload like crazy to get max efficiency out of mine.

I'll have my classic model 37 Ithaca it is an old classic. I mainly break it out for quail but this year it's getting a little bit of dove action as well

I carried a 16 for about 20 years, then somewhere I think in the late 80's shell prices went through the friggin' ceiling and I went to a 12. No one I hunted with carried a 16 either, and it was just more convenient to carry a 20 or a 12. Easier to borrow/loan ammo if needed. I do like 16g, though.

I have two wingmasters, a Stevens 311 SxS, and a Browning BPS all 16s. Ilike them all. Just need to find some birds.

I still borrow my dads occasionally. For nostalgic reasons. Never feels inadequate.

I used one for big ducks last year with one ounce of Bismuth 4s that a had bought years ago. Serious medicine.

I've been shooting for Dove and pheasants for a few years.

It is amazing the comments you get from folks at the range when those little purple federal hulls start hitting the ground. Grown men get misty and start telling you of hunting with their father and grandfather.

The 16 is the sweet spot for feathered game. Sure a 3" 20 will stuff more down the bore, but the balance of those old 16s are something special.

Thought for the day: Ducks were almost hunted to extinction long before camo was invented.

Carries like a 20 and hits like a 12. I have an auto 5 Browning in 16 and my dad has an 870 wingmaster he got for his 12th birthday. He put an improved cylinder barrel with a vent rib on it many years ago. I used it yesterday to limit out before everybody else. One thing for sure though, when I run out of ammo nobody has any I can borrow.

X2. I found 10 cases at $40/case a few years ago. My 1100 16 ga is my #1 dove gun.

I have two Citori 16's I'll be warming up soon. Had the 20 out last night with a limit. If anyone needs a reloader I am fixing to put my Mec 9000 16ga progressive up for sale.

I used my Wingmaster in 16g yesterday afternoon. I love the firepower without much recoil. I just wish the ammo was less expensive and easier to find.

Yup it only takes a minute for the older generation to spot a 16, and then if you show some patience with them you will be entertained for hours about the "old days". My Sweet Sixteen is a dream to carry and all but points itself.

Shot my 16 auto 5 in the morning and my 625 with 28 gauge tubes in the afternoon. What are good 16 gauge shells to buy for reloading?
